- "You told him you were going to Duro?"
"Anakin can be…protective. Beyond that, he has ties to the Chancellor." - ―Moteé and Padmé Amidala
Duro was a temperate planet in the Duro system of the Core Worlds's Duro sector. The planet was located in grid square M-11 of the Standard Galactic Grid, and was situated along the Corellian Trade Spine. The planet was the homeworld of the Duros species, including the duro Bounty hunter Cad Bane, who spent his childhood in a crime-ridden city on Duro with his friend Niro.
Description
- "Right…we'll talk when you get back from Duro."
- ―Anakin Skywalker, to Padmé Amidala
Duro was a temperate[1] planet[12] located in the Core Worlds.[1] It was positioned at the coordinates M-11[3] of the Standard Galactic Grid[13] located along the Corellian Trade Spine.[3] Duro has at least one city, where the Bounty hunter Cad Bane and his friend Niro grew up.[5][8]
History
- "The legal system is what it is but none of that means he's coming here."
"You sure about that? 'Cause there's a shuttle from Torano due at noon. If I were Bane, I know where I'd be headed." - ―Deputy Vance and Marshal Niro, at the local police station
Duro was located along the Corellian Trade Spine
At some point before 10 BBY,[14] the Lost King of Duro ruled as king of Duro.[15] It shared its name with the Core Worlds Duro sector.[16]
Sometime during the Clone Wars, the Jedi Knight Pablo-Jill had an intense duel with Separatist General Grievous in a collapsing satellite city over Duro. The duel left Pablo-Jill injured, and Grievous claimed his lightsaber from the debris.[7] At another point during the war, Senator Padmé Amidala informed her husband Anakin Skywalker that she was traveling to Duro, when in reality she was traveling to the neutral world of Clabron to try and bring them into the Galactic Republic.[11]
After the new rule of the Galactic Empire was declared, Duro was one of the first Core Worlds to fall under Imperial control. Many Duros joined the Rebel Alliance after finding themselves as fugitives from their homeworld.[10]
Inhabitants
Duro was the homeworld of the Duros species,[1] including the infamous bounty hunter Cad Bane, who was active during the Clone Wars.[12] Thanks to the predators on Duro, the Duros evolved so that a foul smelling oil with an awful taste would fill up along their ribs during times of great strain.[17]
Locations
A satellite city was located in orbit of Duro.[7]
Behind the scenes
Duro was first mentioned in the Hostage Crisis featurette in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Complete Season One blu-ray and DVD boxed set released in 2009.[18] Duro eventually first appeared, albeit unnamed, in "The Good Life," the fourth episode of the Disney+ animated anthology series Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld,[5] which aired on May 4, 2025.[19] It simultaneously appeared in the following episodes, "A Good Turn"[20] and "One Good Deed,"[4] and was identified as Duro in Star Wars: Card Trader.[8]
