The Buktari[2] were a sentient species that existed in the galaxy.[1] Hoogenz[3] and Anonda were members of this species.[2]
Biology and appearance
This diminutive bipedal humanoid sentient species was distinguished by their green skin, lekku, and breathing apparatus that covers their entire face, connecting to chest plates via extended tubes.[1]
Buktari in the galaxy
In 5 BBY,[4] a Buktari could be found dwelling on the planet Ferrix.[5] By 9 ABY,[6][7][8] Buktari could be seen at Tatooine,[9] Nevarro, Coruscant,[10] and Borgo Prime.[11] Two Buktari, Hoogenz[3] and Anonda,[2] were present on Jakku in 34 ABY.[12]
Behind the scenes
The Buktari made their debut in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams.[1] They were designed by concept artist Jake Lunt Davies for the film. Keeper of the Holocron Leland Chee revealed the species' name in a comment on a Jake Lunt Davies post on Instagram in 2023.[2]

Jake Lunt Davies (@jakeluntdavies) on Instagram (post on October 11, 2023): "Hoogenz and his ilk. I designed this desert scavenger for The Force Awakens - you see him briefly with Rey in Jakku. He appeared in the Lego SW TFA game as Hoogenz and the species showed up again on the streets of Ferrix in Andor. Also found a behind the scenes pic from the Creature Shop 360° on the Star Wars website. #starwars #theforceawakens #andor #creaturedesign #creatureconcept #conceptart #conceptsketch #lego" (backup link) (screenshot 1 & screenshot 2) (Leland Chee's comment: "Somewhere along the the Line we named this species Buktari. There are two in TFA - Hoogenz who in the film has a brown leather satchel and Anonda who has a canvas olive gray satchel. In The Mandalorian, we see them on Nevarro and on Coruscant. Curious, at what point does actor height factor into the concept and with masked aliens, how often do you concept what's under the mask?")

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines
- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition,
"A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, the latter of which includes "Chapter 21: The Pirate," must all be set in 9 ABY as well.

SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
