Anonda was a Buktari[2] scavenger who worked on the desert planet Jakku.[1] Around thirty years after the Battle of Endor,[3] they were present at Niima Outpost alongside another Buktari named Hoogenz on Jakku when fellow human scavenger Rey arrived to trade some scrap she found with local Crolute junk boss Unkar Plutt.[1]
Behind the scenes
Anonda first appeared in the film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, which was released in 2015 and directed by J.J. Abrams.[1] They were designed by concept artist Jake Lunt Davies, and Keeper of the Holocron Leland Chee first revealed their name in a comment on a post created by Davies on Instagram in 2023.[2]

Jake Lunt Davies (@jakeluntdavies) on Instagram (post on October 11, 2023): "Hoogenz and his ilk. I designed this desert scavenger for The Force Awakens - you see him briefly with Rey in Jakku. He appeared in the Lego SW TFA game as Hoogenz and the species showed up again on the streets of Ferrix in Andor. Also found a behind the scenes pic from the Creature Shop 360° on the Star Wars website. #starwars #theforceawakens #andor #creaturedesign #creatureconcept #conceptart #conceptsketch #lego" (backup link) (screenshot 1 & screenshot 2) (Leland Chee's comment: "Somewhere along the the Line we named this species Buktari. There are two in TFA - Hoogenz who in the film has a brown leather satchel and Anonda who has a canvas olive gray satchel. In The Mandalorian, we see them on Nevarro and on Coruscant. Curious, at what point does actor height factor into the concept and with masked aliens, how often do you concept what's under the mask?")
