"Why not, Nima? What's missing?"
"The sun hasn't given them enough nutrients yet."
―Yoda and Nima Allets[5]

A sun was part of the Inugg system in the Outer Rim Territories and was orbited by the planets Banchii and Hon-Tallos. In 228 BBY, after the Nihil marauders attacked Banchii, Jedi Grand Master Yoda took the Jedi younglings Nima Allets and Viv'Nia Nia'Viv to safety and explained why they were not ready to help by comparing the nutrients the sun provided to wheat with the experience the younglings needed. Later, Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi and Jedi Master Arkoff watched the sunrise together after another Nihil attack.

Description

A sun[5] was part of the Jjannex sector's Inugg system[1] and was orbited by the planets[1][6] Banchii[5] and Hon-Tallos.[1] The sun was located in an intersecting portion of the Western Reaches[3] and the Outer Rim Territories.[1] It was situated in grid square K-19 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[4] The sun provided nutrients to wheat cultivated on Banchii.[5]

History

Lily Tora-Asi watches the sunrise.

Lily Tora-Asi watches the sunrise.

During the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated a section of the Outer Rim[7]—which included Banchii, and therefore its sun[2]—as the Galactic Frontier, locations considered far removed enough from the galaxy's center to send explorers to.[7] In 228 BBY,[8] after the Nihil marauders attacked Banchii, Jedi Grand Master Yoda took the Jedi younglings Nima Allets and Viv'Nia Nia'Viv to safety. When the younglings said they wanted to help, Yoda asked them what happened if the wheat they cultivated was harvested too soon. Allets responded it was useless because it did not have enough nutrients from the sun and soil, and Yoda explained that just as the wheat needed nutrients, the younglings needed experience.[5]

After repelling another Nihil attack on Banchii soon after, Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi watched the sunrise. She was joined by Jedi Master Arkoff, and the two reflected on recent events and their plans for the future.[9]

Behind the scenes

Banchii's sun first appeared in the first volume of the manga series Star Wars: The High Republic: The Edge of Balance, written by Justina Ireland and Shima Shinya, illustrated by Mizuki Sakakibara, and published by Viz Media[10] on September 7, 2021, as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[11]

  8. Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As StarWars.com Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic: The Edge of Balance: Premonition between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
