Archaeology

Archaeology was the study of past sentient life and culture by the recovery and scientific analysis of artifacts (i.e. material remains of cultural importance). Specialists in archaeology were referred to as archaeologists. One of the discipline's branches was archaeoxenobiology, the analysis and interpretation of biological remains from archaeological sites.^[2]

The Imperial Ministry for Antiquity took part in archaeological work, including locating artifacts of importance to Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine. It was involved in an excavation of the Lothal Jedi Temple under Minister Veris Hydan.^[3][4] The Empire was also known to have an Imperial Institute for Archaeological Exploitation.^[5]
