The Almak sector was a sector of the Mid Rim Territories[1] and Western Reaches.[2] Situated in grid square J-17 of the Standard Galactic Grid, it contained the Jiaan system and the Almak system,[1] the latter of which contained Almak, homeworld of the sentient Leffingite species. Many Leffingites were forced to flee Almak after they came under attack from the government during the reign of the Galactic Empire.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Almak sector was mentioned in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[4] The sector originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Daniel Wallace and Fry.[5] The Almak sector was depicted on a map designed by Modi and published in the 2011 StarWars.com article The Essential Atlas Extra: Sectors of the Mid Rim.[6]
