- "I'm told they found you in my library. My private library. At night. Hours after curfew… But I haven't said anything you don't already know, so I suppose there's no point repeating it to you, is there, Yuehiro?"
- ―Hanrai, confronting Yuehiro
Watoru was a terrestrial astronomical object in a binary star system, where it experienced seasonal variation. It was the site of the home estate of Jedi lord Hanrai, who presided over the training of Jedi apprentices there as part of his Jedi clan. Hanrai's home on Watoru included a study, shrine, private library, and training grounds. At one point, Twi'lek apprentice Yuehiro was found entering Hanrai's private library after curfew on Watoru without authorization.
Description
Watoru was a terrestrial celestial body that orbited two stars, whose yellow light illuminated the surface. Its regions experienced seasonal changes, and included a territory where the Jedi lord Hanrai maintained his home estate. The autumn season as it was experienced in Hanrai's territory on Watoru was simulated in artificial garden terraces aboard Hanrai's Imperial Dreadnought Reverent.[1]
History
- "This seal will grant you entry to my library, but only during the hours before curfew."
- ―Hanrai, to Yuehiro
During his time on Watoru, Yuehiro, a Twi'lek Jedi apprentice who had joined Hanrai's clan four years earlier and relocated to the boys' dormitory after adopting a new name, secretly entered Hanrai's private library after curfew. After being discovered, he was taken to Hanrai's study, where, when confronted, he admitted that he sought records on the Sith rebellion and the witch who co-led it, in connection with the disappearance of Master Numoda in the Engai system, whose remains had not been returned for the clan shrine. After their discussion, Hanrai entrusted Yuehiro with a stone-carved seal that granted access to the library. Hanrai's aide Masamu, who was waiting outside of the study, later questioned the lord's indulgence toward the Twi'lek youth, to which Hanrai justified it as being useful for learning when and what Yuehiro would search in his files.[1]
Locations
- "What did you think to find in my library that you couldn't find elsewhere?"
- ―Hanrai, to Yuehiro
Watoru included territories, one of which housed Hanrai's estate, comprised of a study, private library, shrine, courtyards where Jedi apprentices practiced their forms, and dormitories where the young Jedi lived. The lord presided over the training of apprentices under the supervision of masters as part of his Jedi clan.[1]
Inhabitants
- "I know the name of every Jedi apprentice in my clan. Shouldn't I? I've adopted you all."
- ―Hanrai, to Yuehiro
Individuals who had been to Hanrai's estate on Watoru included Masamu and the Twi'lek Yuehiro. Kyuu, a domestic tooka-cat, also inhabited the estate.[1]
