"Non-canon(ical) appearances"
Hello Xd1358, I was wondering what a person call a "Non-canon appearances" section (sections like this). You're either very confused about the question or think that I'm an idiot, but listen out. The reason I'm confused is because of the {{Nc}} and {{Ncm}} templates. Both of those call them "Non-canonical appearance," while the majority of Wookieepedia use "Non-canon appearances," like the example article, so I wanted to ask an admin how I should go about this? I checked a couple of rule pages, mainly the ones I believed would contain information about problems like these, but neither the canon policy page, the "Canon" page itself, the two Layout Guides, the the Manual of Style guide or the FAQ had anything about the subject. Thanks for any help. - LoLuX12 (walkietalkie) 22:02, April 17, 2016 (UTC)
Noncanon template
Hey Xd. One of the templates I forgot to mention in my senate hall post a couple months back is the noncanon template. When you're able to, I was wondering if this one could be updated as well, as the standard version of the template talks about Legends and "canon=1" is needed to turn the template into its canon counterpart. Thanks! Cevan (talk) 21:06, April 26, 2016 (UTC)
Locked discussion thread
I'm curious to know as to why a specific thread was 'locked'...
http://starwars.wikia.com/d/p/2667816540014905151
I would like to know in order to avoid a situation like this from ever happening again in the future. I have no issues to mod actions taking place. I would simply like to know the specifics behind it.
If posting on your 'talk page' is the inappropriate way to address this, I appologize. If there is a more appropriate way in asking this question, please let me know.
thank you for your time,

Prefsbelt Fleet Camp Academy
Hi. Just want to know why you deleted my page, the Prefsbelt Fleet Camp Academy? It is in fact an actual thing in the Star Wars canon and not fanfiction. I see you deleted it as it was a blank page, however I was in the middle of writing it, and I don't understand how you can expect someone to write an entire page mere minutes after initially creating it. I think that you should wait before immediately removing pages, that people are obviously working on. —Unsigned comment by TheStarWarsPortal (talk • contribs)

Re: Grand Master
According to Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, Luke Skywalker held the title of Jedi Grand Master. I just don't know how to put the source right next to the other one (Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi).Relsis23 (talk) 23:43, June 5, 2016 (UTC)
Doesn't starting a New Jedi Order automatically make a Jedi a Grand Master? I don't remember Yoda Canonically being referred to as a Jedi Grand Master either for that matter, only a Jedi Master.Relsis23 (talk) 00:45, June 6, 2016 (UTC)
It says on Wikipedia that Luke is a Jedi Grand Master.Relsis23 (talk) 03:28, June 6, 2016 (UTC)

I was setting up R300-H hyperdrive for deletion so I could start a canon page with that title. I'm under the assumption that old redirect pages need to be deleted before writing a new article. Same thing with Chempat, Carbanti, and Electro-photo receptor. Brules

Discussions
I have come to contact you because there is a user, "Rowyn", who has completely crossed the line with an outrageously inappropriate comment about porn and women. This is the exact quote: "True CFran, whoever, the Star Whores movie(s) is not Cannon (unfortunately), because porn is the only genre where its awesome to have a strong lead female character that can(and will) do anything and everything really really good,"
This is the thread where said quote can be found, along with the user "Rowyn"
Check out this post @Wikia http://starwars.wikia.com/d/p/2791598632447509689
I know it is your job to assess and ban users if worthy of ban, but I have seen users banned for much less and comments like this are not only inappropriate but keep the forums off topic and degrade their quality.
Thank you for your time
Synthetic lightsaber crystal
I know Pablo has said that Sith use natural kyber crystals, but I don't see why synthetic kyber crystals can't exist. Uprising never says that were used in lightsabers. As such, I request that synthetic kyber crystal be restored. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 21:26, July 24, 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for that; I plan to add a Bts section about USW's incorrect use of the crystals. Perhaps we should protect the page so only registered users can edit it. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 21:45, July 24, 2016 (UTC)

Re: Delete to make way for move
Thanks for the heads-up, I'll keep that in mind for next time. In this case, it's the article titled Senior Representative that should be moved to Junior Representative. --LelalMekha (talk) 20:01, September 1, 2016 (UTC)
- It's the Databank that identifies Jar Jar as a Senior Representative. However, the updated Character Encyclopedia written by Pablo Hidalgo uses Junior Representative. Since it's a newer and printed source, and since the Databank does contain occasional errors, I think we should go with what the Character Encylopedia says. --LelalMekha (talk) 20:07, September 1, 2016 (UTC)

I saw that you added the Wookieenews to the retired site features. That's good, but the link on the homepage also still needs to be killed. Re: Speech bubbles
Hello again! Well, I do know that we're not supposed to remove the speech bubbles, but I didn't do it myself. The bubble-less version comes from the official site, so I thought it was a better choice in an infobox. --LelalMekha (talk) 19:42, September 12, 2016 (UTC)

Emperor vs emperor
Unless there's a Star Wars-specific policy for this, emperor lowercase is the grammatically correct version. Do we have a policy about that? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 18:41, September 13, 2016 (UTC)

Re: RFP
Hi, 1358, thanks for the response. I fully support templates having protection from vandalism for all the reasons you cited. What I tried to show by documenting the edit histories of those pages is that semi- or super-semi-protection would be sufficient to block the types of vandalism they'd experienced. (I'd actually be very surprised if super-semi-protected pages were ever vandalized—anyone who creates an account just for vandalism will be blocked before they get to 150 edits, and anyone who's stuck around long enough to make that many good-faith edits probably isn't doing it just to create a platform from which to vandalize later.)
More philosophically, letting long-established users edit pages such as these is a good way to indicate trust in them, strengthening the community. It's an acknowledgement that a wiki is a collaborative platform, and a wide range of people have positive contributions to make. Even minor cosmetic changes improve the wiki, and there's no reason for that burden to be on a small group of admins alone.
As far as the need goes, there's no pressing need, but every page I requested unprotection for has something that ought to be fixed. On two of them, I had posted the issue on the talk page, but (for things that aren't the Main Page or policy pages or such) it seems easier for an admin to adjust the protection level and allow others to fix things, rather than having to fix everything themselves. It also saves a step, since otherwise a regular user must describe the change to an admin rather than just making it directly. Many hands, light work, and all that rot. :-) Cheers! Getting rid of Star Wars: Card Trader from sources section
Hey, I just happened by WP:BR, and noticed you were having a problem with which I could help. Let's imagine you have this:
*[[Star Wars: Card Trader|''Star Wars'': Card Trader]]
To get rid of it, without introducing or keeping a line break, you can do this, if you have a pywikipedia bot:
python replace.py -regex -pt:1 "\*( *?)\[\[Star Wars: Card Trader(.*?)\r\n" "" -page:Imperial_Navy_Trooper
Obviously, this snippet is just a test for the individual page Imperial Navy Trooper, but you can change the scope of it as needed -- -ref:"Star Wars: Card Trader" or whatever you want. Oh, and since I work on a Mac, I need that python bit at the start. You may not.
Hope that helps!
czechout ☎ ✍ 23:35: Tue 19 Sep 2017
- Huh. Well, I've been doing this kinda replacement for literally years.
- The only thing I can surmise is that there's something different about running it with pwb.py rather than directly using replace.py. I myself don't use the pwb.py "directory" method. Instead, I've actually installed all the individual scripts in my pywikipedia folder. All my scripts date from before the core/compat split; they're all from 8 July 2012. They're deliberately that old, because that means they were released when MediaWiki 1.19 -- the version that, as you know, powers FANDOM -- was the current release of MediaWiki.
- So when I run bots, I call on the individual script that was written for use with MW 1.19.
- I suppose there shouldn't be a difference between the two methods, but this is a case where there clearly is. When I use exactly the call I gave above, I don't get your results. Instead, I get this, which is what we're wanting:
>>> Imperial Navy Trooper <<< - *[[Star Wars: Card Trader|''Star Wars'': Card Trader]] Do you want to accept these changes? ([y]es, [N]o, [e]dit, open in [b]rowser, [a]ll, [q]uit)
- Since the results are so different, the only thing I can recommend is that you do a fresh install of pywikipedia using only "compat" scripts. The page over at mediawiki.org will tell you how "compat" is old and kept around for historical purposes only. But for FANDOM it's still quite relevant.

- Hey, I'm not sure what the problem is, when I make a following paragraph after the second and attach a reference to it, the reference doesn't get highlighted in red. I've checked several times to see if it was the actual reference that was incorrect but that wasn't the case. There was also an error message, but one I haven't seen before, something to do with copying and pasting from Microsoft, which is incorrect since I havent copied or pasted anything.--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 21:04, November 1, 2017 (UTC)
- These are the two error messages I received: 1) "This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your edit was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: DEATH TO MICROSOFT PUNCTUATION" and then: 2) "Greetings. If you're seeing this message, that means that your edit has added a foreign apostrophe that is not recognized by the site's software. It often is the result of copy-pasting text from other sites. To resolve this issue, please examine your edit and replace the apostrophes by highlighting and retyping them".--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 21:09, November 1, 2017 (UTC)
- So there's no difference between references (sources) showing up in a highlighted red in the editor vs references that are not highlighted? And alright, I'll watch out for the apostrophes and such, thanks!--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 21:29, November 1, 2017 (UTC)

Visual Editor
Hey, Xd. Looks like you're the Admin who was most recently online, so I'm coming to you for help with a Visual Editor error.
It's come from an edit I'm trying to make to James Luceno (in regular editor mode, of course). It seems like the error is likely being triggered by the following two links to the Indiana Jones wiki that I'm trying to put in: "[[w:c:indianajones:Verdun, September 1916|Verdun, September 1916]]" and "[[w:c:indianajones:Paris, October 1916|Paris, October 1916]]"
I think it's probably the commas in the episode titles that's setting off a red flag, but I don't know if it's the commas in the links themselves, or if it's the commas in the text falling on the right side of the vertical lines.
Any ideas? Or is there someone else I can ask who's better versed in this kind of code? Let me know. Thanks so much. Menkooro (talk) 16:01, November 9, 2017 (UTC)
- Scratch that; it was just an errant space in an IMDB link. It's been fixed. Cheers. Menkooro (talk) 16:10, November 9, 2017 (UTC)

- user:69.119.118.65 is one of the main ones but there are others. Thank you.--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 02:45, November 26, 2017 (UTC)
Archiving Marvel.com
Hey, I know you were able to figure out how to archive Marvel.com with IA. I was wondering if you could explain it to me, since the site is useful for comic release dates. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 19:09, November 28, 2017 (UTC)
Policies on tweets
So I often edit on the wiki and I've run across characters or ships in movies such as Return of the Jedi that are only named in legends sources, for example Rear Admiral http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Chiraneau. Chiraneau appeared in Return of the Jedi but was named in a legends source so there is no canon equivalent even though the character appeared in the film. Having said this, I am aware that Leland Chee explained this in a thread on twitter some time ago. https://twitter.com/HolocronKeeper/status/877200182735011841 and https://twitter.com/HolocronKeeper/status/877210506787905536
What I'm not sure is if these two tweets are part of Wookieepedia's article creation policy. For example, let's say I want to create the canon equivalent of Chiraneau and use the two tweets as sources. To what extent, hypothetically, could I go off and create the many other articles like the Thunderflare, or Jendon? If these types of articles are slowly confirmed canon like the Stalker & Stalker/Legends wouldn't that already reinforce Leland's tweets?
I know that we already use this tweet: https://twitter.com/HolocronKeeper/status/765575801865588738 to create articles. I was going to put this in the discussion section attached to this wiki, but decided just to ask one of the admins instead. If this hasn't been discussed much and we don't necessarily have a stance on this subject I understand, thanks!! Just something I've been heavily pondering lateley!--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 07:37, December 10, 2017 (UTC)
RE:Notability and deletion
Yeah I put a notability tag and didn't fully understand what that meant which is why I moved it to the delete tag and gave my reason as being notability. But what stops unregistered and inexperiences users from creating articles on literally any character in any star wars material that has no noteworthy actions? What if someone decided to create 50 canon articles about 50 unidentified droids in Ambush and never come back on. It would just get up to the point of spam in my opinion. In fact, there were 6 unregistered users that were active for a few hours each on 6 separate, consecutive days, and they all created roughly 30 articles, and those users (which may have been the same user using different IPs every day) has not been active again, so what protects this site against that (which is when the articles you removed from speedy deletions came from)? I think there has to be a clearer line between articles like Unidentified Imperial Security Bureau major and Unidentified Stormtrooper Commander (Empire Day), which is not even a commander (the empire day one). Maybe this is too much for you and I to discuss alone, and maybe I'm venting a bit here, so sorry about that if I am, but it's just because I'm passionate about keeping the integrity of this site, and I don't have the time or experience to create however many TCs when my focus on this site is to move content from the Star Wars medium to this database. Thank you and have a great day.--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 00:49, December 11, 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah I guess it doesn't hurt but it would definitely make the place cleaner. Thanks for listening, but if this has been debated before and it's never amounted to anything different then I'm not going to try to debate it again. I do have a question though, let's say there's an unidentified character article who has no dialogue and serves as a background character, would that amount to a TC or a speedy deletion? Thanks!--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 18:02, December 12, 2017 (UTC)
- Okay yeah I just noticed several articles are gone, just asking for future reference in, thanks for the help and discussing this topic with me!--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 18:06, December 12, 2017 (UTC)
