Source

Youtube is not a source. Agent Cards 07:49, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

It shows the end of the game. Are you trying to source the canon of it, or the article? I can say on there that it's non-canon, but he is at least in the dark ending. Roger Murtaugh 07:51, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Character competition

We hadn't put together plans to do it yet, but there's still time and it could happen soon. Stay tuned. IFYLOFD (Talk) 00:44, December 28, 2016 (UTC)

Okay. Thank you for your response. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 00:47, December 28, 2016 (UTC)

John Armstrong‎‎

Hello. Thanks for creating John Armstrong, however the page need some work, as it is lacking a bibliography, and section title are wrong. Please, refers to the OOU layout guide on how to proceed. If you still have question after reading the policy, don't hesitate to reach me out on my talk page. --NanoLuukeCloning facility 10:45, April 23, 2020 (UTC)

Cast and crew

No, it doesn't matter which website or news agency reports it or how reliable their source is. The only way to create a new article is to have a social media post, a SW.com article or an approved statement by Lucasfilm--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 02:39, May 5, 2020 (UTC)

Cast and crew source question

Hello, I believe we would still have to wait for something to come from StarWars.com or Disney before we can officially add it. For example, if you see on The Mandalorian Season Two, its only mentioned as 'reported' that Rosario Dawson will appear as Ahsoka in the season. Hopefully that answers your question! --Lewisr (talk) 02:40, May 5, 2020 (UTC)

  • Apologies I didn't realise Ruiz was replying at the same time I was! Yeah I get what you mean, its best to just stick with the official site since that's essentially the source that really matters or social media as you say. No problem and thank you, you too! --Lewisr (talk) 02:48, May 5, 2020 (UTC)
    • Fair enough that makes sense, best to ask and be safe than sorry I guess. Glad to be of help, feel free to ask if you ever do have any questions! You're welcome --Lewisr (talk) 02:54, May 5, 2020 (UTC)

Social Media

Thanks for contributing to Wookieepedia! Please note that your edit to The Mandalorian Season Two added a social media link without archive (required per policy). In the case of Twitter, you'll have to use {{Twitter}} and provide a screenshot (which must be added here too). --NanoLuukeCloning facility 14:05, May 5, 2020 (UTC)

Backup links

Thanks for contributing to Wookieepedia! Please note that at least one of your recent additions added an external link without including a backup link. Our Sourcing policy mandates the inclusion of a permanent archival link in all external links. Instructions for doing this can be found on the respective citation template pages. Thanks! UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 19:36, October 1, 2020 (UTC)

  • Oops. Oh, man. I forgot this time. Sorry. I'm still getting used to that. I didn't know about it until not too long ago and I haven't edited it enough to get in the habit, yet. I added the backup last time. What link did I miss? Roger Murtaugh (talk) 19:42, October 1, 2020 (UTC)
    • The new file you uploaded. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 19:46, October 1, 2020 (UTC)
      • Oh. Okay. That makes sense. I thought that you meant an article. I'll try to do that now. I'm going to try to find an alternate image source, because the way the link is set us is odd for archival purposes. Thank you for letting me know. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 19:47, October 1, 2020 (UTC)
        • Okay. I have it all ready to go. It's just not letting my edit save, yet. It goes to a blank screen and when I refresh, it redirects to the image, but it will be added soon. The database seems to be having issues. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 20:02, October 1, 2020 (UTC)
          • Okay, I've been trying for about 33 minutes. This is the archive link. (https://web.archive.org/web/20201001201543/https://twitter.com/starwars/status/1311697640992645126) Is there something that I'm not doing right? Whenever I add that to the description, it leads me to a blank page when I save it. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 20:35, October 1, 2020 (UTC)
            • It's bug with the upload form. You have to replace every instance of https:// with {{subst:https}}. If you're still having issues, let me know. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 08:05, October 2, 2020 (UTC)
              • Thank you so much. That was bothering me a ton. I'm glad to have finally been able to get that done. I was trying for quite some time and asking others to figure it out. Thank you, again. Have a great day. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 11:14, October 2, 2020 (UTC)
                • Anytime. UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 11:22, October 2, 2020 (UTC)
                • Also just a note, most templates only require the timestamp from archive.org links (this is the "archivedate=" field). UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 11:28, October 2, 2020 (UTC)
                  • Thank you for letting me know. I tried a lot of different things like that during my process of trying to figure it out. At least I know now for the future. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 11:36, October 2, 2020 (UTC)

Redirecting link

Hey, Roger! There's a redirecting link to Rey's lightsaber in User:Roger Murtaugh/Other. It currently uses the former name of "Rey Skywalker's lightsaber." Can you fix this? Thanks! Mr Star Wars AminoRepublic (talk) 6:37, November 1, 2020 (UTC)

Absolutely. No problem. I like to update those whenever I see them as it is. Thank you for letting me know. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 17:44, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

Unverified date

Please, while we are lenient on older articles featuring unverified information (which must then be tagged with {{fact}}), do not introduce an unverified date into Wookieepedia on a newly created articles, such as Simon Kassianides birthdate. • I know. I just woke up and had saved it before entering all I had planned to. I added a source from the official website pretty quickly after I had made the page. It's confirmed. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 16:18, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
    • Can you go back and format the external links on the pages you created with {{Cite_web}} and a backup link as soon as possible? UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 16:20, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
      • That was an early link I had used from the series' page. I removed it as it wasn't necessary and had already added a link from the official site. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 16:29, 29 March 2021 (UTC)

Bibliography

As mandated by the Layout Guide, please add a "Bibliography" section to any out-of-universe pages you create (e.g. Rhea Perlman). UberSoldat93 ClanMudhornSignet-Redemption (talk) 07:10, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

The episode just came out, so there's not going to be many if any article about the actress, yet. Also, that page says, "With rare exceptions, no out-of-universe article should be created without either a Bibliography or External links section". It says "or". There is a section with links, so I'm not understanding the problem, from that wording at least. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 07:16, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Moving pages

Hi there. When moving page titles, please leave a redirect to the old title, otherwise you will end up creating numerous redlinks on other pages, like has happened here. Thanks! RattsT (talk) 07:54, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

  • When I originally messaged you, there were about a dozen pages that had redlinks. It's never preferable to delete a redirect that's still linked on the wiki, since leaving a redlink is the last thing we want to do. In the future, it'd be best to just leave a redirect as is during a move and let an admin delete it once all links are changed to the new title. Hope this makes sense! RattsT (talk) 01:48, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
    • So I see! Still, this wouldn't be a problem at all if you simply don't delete the redirect. Technically, normal users like us aren't even allowed to do that, it's a quirk of UCP that we can delete redirects at all. When it comes to deleting things, we should leave that to admins, no matter how unnecessary we think the pages may be. RattsT (talk) 02:07, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
      • I messaged a separate admin on Discord, and according to him we should ideally leave a redirect behind, though he notes that he personally doesn't have much of a problem with it as long as the links are fixed. Should note, though, that Bad Batch episodes are linked in the navigation bar at the top of the site, and only an administrator can change those. That's actually why I messaged you in the first place, since I noticed that redlink. Of course, if the admins have no issue with there's not too much else to be said. Just thought I'd bring it up! RattsT (talk) 02:51, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
        • Also, no need to apologize so much! Wiki matters are mostly trivial things, and you haven't wasted my time. I appreciate that you're willing to have a conversation about this. Not everyone is polite enough to do so! RattsT (talk) 02:54, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
          • Of course! I've made my fair share of mistakes in my relatively short time here, as has any other editor. We never really stop learning, and that's a good thing. Thanks for your time, and happy editing! RattsT (talk) 03:06, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales

Hey, please revert the deleting/moving (idk what you did) to Terrifying Tales page that I made, since mine was the correct title name as stated on SW.com and had an image. Thanks, ~ D MCCG D MCCG (chat) 00:33, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

  • Nevermind actually, Silver Sunbird just reverted it. D MCCG D MCCG (chat) 00:34, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
I hadn't noticed that as I went through the LEGO template to make the page. Purely unintentional. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 00:35, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Formatting

Heads up, this is the correct formatting here. JediMasterMacaroni(Talk) 21:24, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Oops. I'm aware of that. I must've used a template from the series itself and changed it, forgetting to add the quotation marks. I was pretty tired when I was editing earlier. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 21:26, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
To add to this, I felt bad about the mistakes, so I went around and corrected as many I could find, even if someone else had made the same error. My apologies. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 21:36, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Not a competition

Please keep in mind creating articles is not a competition. Your initial revision lacked templates and categories, which you correctly added afterward, but there's no reason why you can't spend an additional minute doing that before creating the page. Thanks. 1358 (Talk) 19:11, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

I had entered the information, but had hit enter too fast and accidentally wiped a lot of the information in my edits out. I usually have pages entered as accurately as possible as I post. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 19:12, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
To add to that, in this case, I was excited at the announcement of a new show and had submitted the edit too quickly, not realizing that mistake. My apologies for that, but a bare entry was not my intention. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 19:15, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
No worries, and no harm done. I completely understand the excitement that comes with new information like this and you wouldn't be the first person to press save before taking a second look. It happens. Just keep it in mind in the future. Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 19:33, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
I absolutely will. Thank you, again. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 19:34, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

I edited your userpage

Hi, I had to edit your userpage because the page was renamed to AL-42. SeichanGrey (talk) 00:11, 1 June 2022 (UTC)

I probably wouldn't have even noticed for a long time. Thank you for doing that for me and for letting me know. I respect that you messaged me about it. No worries, no harm done and I appreciate it. Have a good day. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 03:23, 1 June 2022 (UTC)

Character of the Year

Hey Roger! I assume you must have missed this on the page but the rules now state that 'Each user may add no more than three new nominees to the list, so choose wisely! Ineligible nominees will be removed.' so you'll want to pick 3 of the ones you've added and then remove the others. Thanks! Lewisr (talk) 16:54, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Oh. Oops. My apologies. I did go over the rules, but somehow missed that. Wow, that makes this tough. Ha. Thank you for letting me know and thank you for letting me know politely, because I can see how it can cause an issue to add so many. My apologies. You're welcome. Have a good day. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 16:56, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
No worries. Haha yes it is a tough choice! Thanks for understanding, and have a good day too! Lewisr (talk) 16:58, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Imperial warlords

Hello. When creating pages, you shouldn't add sprot to the {{Top}} template since the administration hasn't protected the pages you created, the Imperial warlords. As "Unidentified Imperial Warlord" isn't a descriptive article title, the articles should describe these individuals so that we know who the page is referring to. Additionally, a television episode isn't a source, it's an appearance, the title of warlord isn't capitalized if it doesn't precede a title, and you should always add the unspecified species/gender/pronouns categories when creating pages. Samonic Signatureicon (Talk) 10:36, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

I know most of that already. I made the pages based upon the links that were already posted in the episode's page and the top template was unintentionally placed. I was tired and making a lot of edits last night to keep Wookieepedia updated with all of the new appearances and mentions. You could see in the opening sentences of the pages that it wasn't capitalized. I know what an appearance is. Also, the sources sections were probably carried over from me trying to add pages for actors. I might've accidentally just carried the sections over from a page that I had up and updated to a character page instead. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 15:28, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
I'll just say that you should take more time when creating pages, which Bureaucrat Xd1358 pointed out to you above. If you're going to create a page, you should proofread it, make sure there's no formatting errors and that everything's correct, and then publish. "keep Wookieepedia updated with all of the new appearances and mentions" While I appreciate that you want to keep Wookieepedia updated, I have to tell you that you can wait a few minutes before updating Wookieepedia, doing what I said above. "You could see in the opening sentences of the pages that it wasn't capitalized." The titles capitalize the title of warlord. Samonic Signatureicon (Talk) 16:55, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
I do go over them. I was tired. Also, I used the titles of the pages that were linked by another user. I didn't change them, because I didn't know if I would offend someone. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 17:02, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Wookieepedia is a wiki that anyone can edit, so I don't think correcting an error would offend someone. Feel free to fix any errors you encounter in the future, be bold. Samonic Signatureicon (Talk) 17:14, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
It seems like you're angry with me, or something, over simple mistakes. I don't set out to do things the wrong way. You're trying to tell me how to correct my errors, yes, but you're overly explaining things that I already know, such as this being a place that anyone can edit. I almost feel talked down to. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 17:23, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm not angry with you, and I apologize if that's how my comments came across. I said that anyone can edit Wookieepedia to say that you shouldn't worry about offending others by fixing anything, not because I think you don't know that. Sorry. Samonic Signatureicon (Talk) 17:25, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Hobin Carsamba Vote

Hi Roger and happy new year! As promised, I owe you the write up of a CA of your choice since you voted for Hobin in the Character of the Year competition so let me know when you've picked an article you'd like me to work on. Ayrehead02 (talk) 12:17, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello. Happy New Year. I appreciate that, but it's not necessary. I just like to try to help characters get more attention and fans if I can and it's great if they can get enough votes to automatically be a contestant for the next competition. I hadn't noticed that you were willing to write up articles as appreciation, but it's not needed in my case. I appreciate it, though and I'm glad to have helped. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 12:59, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Article creation

Hey there! First of all, just wanna say thanks for creating articles following the many announcements during Celebration Japan (2025). However, I suggest you to stop spam create articles without checking for general quality assessments to avoid duplicates, lack of citations, etc. Happy editing and cheers! Bonzane10 Bonzane10-Sig 12:50, 19 April 2025 (UTC)

You're welcome. I did check them. They all had citations. If there was a duplicate article, I'm guessing it was Hawks and Unidentified human (Zero Company), but that's because Hawks is a completely customizable character, which was information that I was not aware of until news came of it. I didn't want to go and move the page just in case they were separate characters. It takes work just to add the pages, which is easier on people than not adding them. I don't just do it quickly. I do check things, and if there's a mistake, it's not intentional. I guess I'll just hold back on editing so as to not cause issues, as I feel like I did this time, I really feel horrible when I do something wrong. I get nervous editing, because I don't want to make a mistake, so when it happens, it really bothers me. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 16:07, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
