Legends and Canon articles

Canon articles are not to be made by simply copying from the Legends counterparts and changing the links. They have to be written from scratch, in your own words. Not only can some information be different between Legends and Canon sources, it is poor editing practice. Trip391 (talk) 19:08, March 19, 2015 (UTC)

New page infoboxes

Hi Cwedin, I noticed you created a new page a few days ago, 8D8. Unfortunately, it has popped up in a maintenance category as it was missing parameters in the infobox. I have fixed it in this instance, but please keep it in mind next time you create an article - it is best to use the standard preloads located below the main edit box. Doing this ensures nothing is missed and you can fill the infobox with all the relevant information. It also means the article isn't edited by a second, third or fourth person to correct very minor issue. Additionally, there are over 15,000 articles with this issue, which I am slowly fixing. This takes time, and even if I do 10 articles a day (on average), it will still take a couple years to get them all, without that number increasing due to new articles. Nothing too major so don't stress, just some advice for future reference :) Have a great week! Manoof (talk) 09:47, June 24, 2015 (UTC)

The CAN page

Hi, I know you are new, and it is cool you are getting into the nomination process. But just be aware it is considered "bad form" to strike another user's objections on the page; only they can. For instance, I wanted to look over the article again before I struck, in case I wanted further discussion. I'm fairly new here too, but you learn pretty quick. :) Let me know if you need more help! Cwedin (talk) 18:38, September 25, 2015 (UTC)

Re: Timeline

Hey Cwedin. I do agree that the timeline should be uniform, however, I agree with Brandon that items should be placed when they begin (for example, even though Dark Disciple takes place before and after Son of Dathomir, it should be placed before SoD in the timeline). This is already being practiced in the page, however things like A New Dawn, which has a short prologue set during the Clone Wars, should be placed in the timeline where the bulk of the book takes place. I realize this isn't exactly enforced all throughout the timeline page, which is something that'll need fixing, but I personally concur with Brandon's decision on this matter. Cevan (talk) 01:34, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

  • It may be worth opening up a discussion about this on the talk page, just so others can voice their input as well and we may get a more clear answer from Brandon or an admin. Cevan (talk) 13:28, October 12, 2015 (UTC)

Canon Timeline Ordering

Hi Cwedin, Did you and Cevan come to any conclusions as to whether things in the timeline should be placed according to when they start or when they finish (referring here to Dark Disciple and The Secret Academy)? Personally I think it makes much more sense to place them by when they finish (as I'm currently playing/reading/watching my way through Star Wars myself, it would be ridiculous for me to read Lost Stars before watching the movies!) Who has the final call on this? Thanks, --Mythicia77 (talk) 15:17, October 23, 2015 (UTC)

TFA Novelization

While I admit Del Rey's comments are ambiguous WRT whether the novelizations, and the Force Awakens novelization in particular, are canon; WP:CANON is not. In addition, the novel flat-out contradicts canon by depicting the bombing run of Starkiller Base completely differently, and I don't think that's reconcilable.

Still, if you disagree, feel free to message me about it. I won't be touching anything related today regardless.

Game template

The template you created is working and is readable in-use, for the most part. The only reason the title and other table rows aren't showing is because they are conditionalized – they only appear if their parameters are given a value; this is done to hide said rows if no information is provided for them (as visible unused rows would look ugly). Your template isn't alone. If you want the title of the infobox to be that of whatever article in question by default, you can add...

"<title source="name"><default>{{PAGENAME}}</default></title>"

... in place of...

"<title source="name"></title>".

You'll probably want a sysop to change the title row background to a color that complements the white text, though; that light sky blue makes it nearly unreadable, in my opinion. Hyaline (talk) 22:23, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

Ah, okay, gotcha'. That "Game" theme just needs to be specified here then. Right now, it doesn't exist, and the template's using what seems to be defualt coloring. Hyaline (talk) 23:05, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

Star Wars: Uprising

Hello, Cwedin! From the things you've been working on these days, I can see that you too are a player of Star Wars: Uprising. I wondered if, perhaps, we could try and work together on the "Uprising" and "Riley's sibling" articles. After all, these are the two most important topics in that game—at least in my opinion. Cheers! --LelalMekha (talk) 14:12, February 3, 2016 (UTC)

  • Indeed, a project page seems to be in order. But first, I think we need to know whether we'll be more than the two of us. I somehow doubt it, but that would be great. Do you know of other (potential) players among us? --LelalMekha (talk) 23:01, February 3, 2016 (UTC)
    • Good! I just sent him a message. (You probably know that already, but we can also rely on various playthrough videos found on Youtube, in addition to our own experience. It comes in very handy since story missions can't be replayed as you know. I've started recording them myself, but only rather late in the game.) --LelalMekha (talk) 23:16, February 3, 2016 (UTC)
      • Here we are, I made a project page. It may not be perfect, but this is the first time I'm trying something like that. If you have suggestions, do tell me! --LelalMekha (talk) 09:33, February 4, 2016 (UTC)

Hey guys, I just wanted to point out that I have added a small list of online sources that contain lore, if you want to use them. Neimoidians as Insectoids

Regarding your edit (or rather reversion) on the nemoidian page. (I left this same post on that talk page, but realized that you might not follow the talk page, so I'm leaving it here too.)

I am trying to be civil in the following passage, but I realize that some of what I say may seem harsh. This is not my intention, but I couldn't figure out how to reword it in a less harsh way. I genuinely wish to understand the logic behind this (and other similar) decisions.

I fail to see how this information is "unverified". I don't necessarily disagree. It just doesn't make sense to me that you can keep information about how they "spent the first seven years of their lives as ... maggot-like larvae" and can't easily conclude from that that they qualify as an insectoid sentient species. I know that they are humanoid, but humanoid is merely a description of shape, not kingdom. Has there been a species that starts out as a larva that isn't an insectoid? Or rather, is there a species that starts out as a larva that is explicitly stated to be something other than insectoid? Doesn't the fact that they are larva before metamorphosizing into their adult form make insect-like enough to be considered insectoid? I understand that there is nothing currently canon that explicitly states that Neimoidians are insectoid, but if you don't allow the category here with as much evidence as there is, then you should at least take it off of the Sugi. That is just as much speculation (unless it is explicitly stated as such in Tarkin in which case you should change the citation on the insectoid page). The databank entry merely states that their power suits have insectoid legs, not that the sugi themselves are insectoid. ("Many Sugi wear "power suits" with four giant insectoid legs that more than double their height and make them physically imposing.").

Chewdup (talk) 06:51, February 14, 2016 (UTC)

That makes sense. I think, by that logic, that Sugi should be removed from the list of insectoids unless someone can prove that they are referred to as it in Tarkin or one of the episodes of The Clone Wars and cite it as such (until such a time, a note should be left in the talk page or the citation should be changed to a needs citation, or something). Chewdup (talk) 08:25, February 14, 2016 (UTC)

Imperial Military

Cwedin, I've noticed that on your recent edits regarding the Adventures in Wild Space series you've been writing the affiliations of various individuals to the Imperial military. Recently, a canon capitalization of 'military' has been found, thus the arduous process of re-linking everything that once said Imperial military to Imperial Military exists. Note however, that the /Canon tag still needs to be applied, as the bots haven't yet got to reverting the priority of the Legends/Canon pages. I hope this helps! - Icon Faction ImperialCommander Boots 23:46, March 12, 2016 (UTC)

Nonspecific release dates

On the Timeline of Canon Media page, I recently edited the release date for a few unreleased entries from simply the year to the last day of that year. RE: Character Encyclopedia

Alright here goes.

  • Cliegg
    • His father was a Tatooinian farmer, but as a young man Cliegg wanted to experience life on a bustling Core World. Here, he fell in love with and married Aika. After Aike died, Cliegg returned to Tatooine to run the family farm.
    • His clothing includes a gear harness and weather-worn work cloak.
    • He was looking for a new farmhand in Mos Espa when he met Shmi.
    • After Shmi's death he remained determined to live the life he had worked so hard to create; however, he died from a broken heart shortly afterwards.
  • Owen
    • Ep II Clothing includes: Tool pouch, rough clothing made in Anchorhead and a simple overcoat which provides warmth in cold desert evenings.
    • He, Cliegg and Beru only ever met Anakin and Padme once.
    • His height is given as 1.7 instead of 1.78.
    • Owen was born to Cliegg's first wife Aika.
    • Spent most of his life on his father's homestead.
    • Met Beru in Anchorhead and fell in love with her there.
    • Owen was reluctant to take Luke, but Beru persuaded him.
    • When Luke wants to leave, Owen finds it hard to shrug off the gruff, protective attitude that had become habit over the years.
  • Beru
    • Ep II clothing: Simple hairstyle, rough clothing made in Anchorhead including desert tunic and desert boots.
    • She is hard working and self-reliant. She is well equipped to deal with most of the dangers encountered in the Tatooine desert.
    • She respect's Owen's desire to protect Luke by keeping him at home, but understands Luke's desire to leave.
    • Her family has been made up of moisture farmers for three generations.

Think that's all of it. Will add more if I find it. Ayrehead02 (talk) 18:04, March 30, 2016 (UTC)

  • Malaki
    • Clothing: Sweat soaked rag belt, wrist guard, ancient circus pants.
    • Homeworld: Corellia

    • He tends any wounds the rancor receives while eating prisoners.
    • He once worked as an animal handler in a traveling circus, but when one of his dangerous beasts got escaped during a show on Nar Shaddaa it killed audience members. Because of this Malakili was enslaved and later sold to Jabba the Hutt.
    • He and Giran are both very fond of the rancor and consider it their favourite animal in the palace. They both wept openly after its death. (Note, I was planning on writing up Giran myself once I've finished the appearances so if you want to just make a stub for the redlink in your GAnom I'll expand it soon.)
  • Lobot
    • Clothing: Belt projecting clear-signal field, Fineweave sherculién-cloth shirt, City central computer link.
    • Works as Chief Administrative Aide on Cloud City.
    • Is efficient and near-silent, making him the perfect companion for the flamboyant Lando.
    • Has no love for the Empire and in response to Lando's "Code Force Seven" he arrives with Cloud City guard to free the prisoners.
    • His implants allow him to process information at incredible speeds and monitor a vast array of details at once.
