Welcome to my talk page!
Please do not use this talk page to discuss issues related to other Wikia communities, unless they are relevant to Wookieepedia. That way, we make sure that our discussions on Wookieepedia are about Wookieepedia. Thanks!

Rebels timeline

Hello, Brandon. I see that the original SH thread devoted to the timeline of Star Wars Rebels media has been archived and cannot be edited anymore. Where should I add new intel, then? --LelalMekha (talk) 19:03, July 9, 2016 (UTC)

  • Good catch. I unarchived it. It actually can still be edited, you just have to add ?action=edit to the end of the URL. Which isn't something that anyone should normally do for archived forums, but in this case this particular forum doesn't need archiving. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:15, July 10, 2016 (UTC)

Ahsoka Tano page

Would I be able to take the work you've currently done for Ahsoka's page on User:Brandon Rhea/workspace4 and expand on it on my own workspace? When I've finished I'll show you to see what you think. I just wanted to ask permission before I did anything. Thanks a lot! --Kyle03 (talk) 09:00, July 10, 2016 (UTC)

Kylo Ren and his Training as a Jedi

Hello. I want to ask the equestion. Some of the people asking me about that Kylo Ren began his training in 23 year, but some people said that this info wasn't written in the Bloodline. Can you say where was written in the Bloodline that Kylo Ren began his training as a Jedi in an age of 23? --DN345Real (talk) 14:54, July 12, 2016 (UTC)

  • Hey. So it's not that he began his training at 23. It's that he was 23 in Bloodline (and it suggests he started his training earlier). We know he's 23 in the book because of its placement in the timeline. He's 29 in The Force Awakens, and Bloodline is set 6 years before the movie. So with that, we know he was 23 in Bloodline. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:30, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
    • Ok. Thanks for information=) I just thought from the article of Kylo Ren that he begun training in age 23. Text from article: By the same age, Ben had begun training with Skywalker as one of the students in his uncle's new generation of Jedi. Can you fix this to avoid misunderstanding? ----DN345Real (talk) 15:47, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
      • The key word there is "by." It means he started by the time he was 23 (which is accurate, since he could have started anywhere up to that point), not that he started at the age of 23. If you have an alternate wording suggestion, we can certainly use that. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:52, July 12, 2016 (UTC)

Rivaan Ginn (talk) 20:54, July 19, 2016 (UTC) I have come to contact you because there is a user, "Rowyn", who has completely crossed the line with an outrageously inappropriate comment about porn and women. This is the exact quote: "True CFran, whoever, the Star Whores movie(s) is not Cannon (unfortunately), because porn is the only genre where its awesome to have a strong lead female character that can(and will) do anything and everything really really good,"

This is the thread where said quote can be found, along with the user "Rowyn"

Check out this post @Wikia http://starwars.wikia.com/d/p/2791598632447509689

I know it is your job to assess and ban users if worthy of ban, but I have seen users banned for much less and comments like this are not only inappropriate but keep the forums off topic and degrade their quality.

Thank you for your time Rivaan Ginn (talk) 20:54, July 19, 2016 (UTC)

Infobox comments and background

Hi Brandon! I have two questions regarding infoboxes, and I was hoping you could help me with those. (I use Monobook.)

Firstly, some time ago, it used to be that in a {{Planet}} infobox you could add a <br /> after a file link and then write some comment that would explain the image. (here are a couple of old revisions with examples: one and two). Now the addition of such comments just causes the image to not show at all. Is this still a problem to be solved or is there another way to do it now?

Secondly, why don't image background fields work? (examples here and here).

I hope I addressed these questions to the right person. :) Thanks! Imperators II(Talk) 04:37, July 21, 2016 (UTC)

Questions

Do you know the name of the planet; that Luke Skywalker's Jedi Temple was located on.--Jabu-1 (talk) 15:45, August 6, 2016 (UTC)

Did Kylo Ren have the rank of Jedi Knight or Jedi Master in the New Jedi Order; prior to his fall to the Dark side.--Jabu-1 (talk) 15:47, August 6, 2016 (UTC)

  • Hey. To answer your questions:
    1. We don't yet know what planet Luke's temple was located on.
    2. We don't know if Luke's Jedi used any sort of rank structure yet, so no we don't know. What we do know, though, is that Kylo was one of Luke's apprentices.
  • I hope that helps. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:51, August 6, 2016 (UTC)

Darth Maul

Given your recent revert, could you at least respond to the Talk Page? The discussion appears to be collecting dust. DarkKnight2149 22:55, August 14, 2016 (UTC)

RE: Discussions Update: August 16, 2016

From what you posted in this thread... http://starwars.wikia.com/d/p/2812529962559473018

I'm concerned with the implementation of 'categories' in the Community Discussion Forums. I fully understand the need and decision to have Admins make these decisions (per you wording).

Here's my response to your announcement in that thread...

" I've noticed the bottle cap user badge on the browser interface for a little bit now. I figured that was going to be implemented in the app soon.

The Android users are already aware of the 'general' category. I communicated with the masses that this was an indication of multiple categories being implemented in the future. I can safely say that most of us are incredibly eager for this to happen.

I've also notice the back end going through multiple updates this week (forums slow down, people can't log in, etc,..). I'm always excited when this happens!

Anyhow, I really hope that, as a moderator, that I will be able to choose what and which categories will be implemented. I have a working knowledge of these forums and have a really good feel for what should be implemented. At the very least, I should have some kind of input.

If that means having a discussion in the wikia or on the forums with the Admins, then we should make this happen.

Please contact me here, my talk page, or email."

I fully understand why Admins wouldn't be on the Discussion Forums very much. They have much more important things to do. Running the wikia and contributing to it is not only far more important, it's also very time consuming.

Since I'm a moderator, I believe that my first hand and daily experiences in the forums give me valuable insight as to what would make the discussion forums run more smoothly, as well as insight to what won't work.

I'm not sure where or how I can give my input to what categories should be implemented, but if you can guide and help me, I am more then willing to help with this exciting transition.

I believe in these forums. I believe they will make Wookiepedia grow. I would like to help with this. --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 18:41, August 16, 2016 (UTC)

  • I've noticed that our Administrators want very little to do with Discussions and would be unlikely to carry out the duties you've listed in the update. From personal experience, I know CLG would be the perfect man for the job. He has my endorsement, if that at all matters. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 18:50, August 16, 2016 (UTC)
    • The admins are beginning to embrace Discussions now that the quality of conversation there has really improved. So Christopher, you will undoubtedly be able to coordinate with the admins about what categories to add. Feel free to start a conversation with them here. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:43, August 18, 2016 (UTC)
      • Thank you. I'm in the middle of NFL fantasy football drafting this week. After this sunday, I'll get the ball rolling with the admins on this.--ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 01:48, August 24, 2016 (UTC)

Identity confirmation on Twitter

I sent you a message on twitter. Just wanted you to know that https://twitter.com/RealCGallant is indeed me. --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 22:44, September 5, 2016 (UTC)

Emperor vs emperor

The Emperor is more or less consistently capitalized across Wookieepedia, and while Wookieepedia is not a source, I believe this is indeed the proper capitalization. You are correct that emperor is not capitalized when referring to the general title (i.e Palps and Valkorion are both emperors, but Palps as an individual is referred to as the Emperor. WP:MOS#Ranks_and_titles stipulates that some titles should always be capitalized and I believe the Emperor is one of those. Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 18:47, September 13, 2016 (UTC)

  • StarWars.com Databank also consistently capitalizes the Emperor. 1358 (Talk) 18:50, September 13, 2016 (UTC)
    • Yeah, it's a special case. We actually used to capitalize every title when it was referring to an individual until like two years ago, but that was changed to reflect proper grammar. However, exceptions remain for titles like Padawan and in this case the Emperor. Cheers, 1358 (Talk) 19:01, September 13, 2016 (UTC)

Discussion Category Changes

We are on the verge of a big influx of new members with the premiere of Rebels this coming Saturday. The hype alone has already seen plenty of new users post in the Discussion forums. Because of this, I feel that it's incredibly important for the changes to be implemented ASAP. It's also important for the existing community to get used to the changes by the time when Rogue One comes out. When the community is familiar with the reasoning for the changes, they will also help with new members down the road. I've already posted my recommendations for the new categories on the Administers' Noticeboard. Any help in pushing this forward would be greatly appreciated. The list can be found in this post: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:NB:%27Categories%27_for_the_Discussion_Forums?t=20160914203135 --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 06:13, September 19, 2016 (UTC)

  • I'd recommend messaging Toprawa and Ralltiir directly to see if he has any issues with the proposed categories. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 12:36, September 19, 2016 (UTC)
    • Thank you. Let me know if you have any positive or negative criticisms on my talk page about any of these changes. I'm always open for different perspectives. --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 20:55, September 19, 2016 (UTC)

Thrawn Article

Just out of curiosity, is it not allowed to "claim" an article prior to the release of a particular piece of media/material, as I planned on updating it following the premier. Just wanted to know for future reference, because I was about to rewrite after the episode. I assume you already saw the episode as well though. I'm not upset or anything though, but maybe I do not know the exact purpose of the inuse template :) Darth Ravigious (talk) 22:53, September 24, 2016 (UTC)

  • Correct, it's not meant for claiming an article prior to release. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:55, September 24, 2016 (UTC)
    • Alright. Sorry man. Is all of the article already updated with prior info from tonight's episode, or is more to be added later? Darth Ravigious (talk) 23:05, September 24, 2016 (UTC)
      • I included all information that I'm aware of, including from the episode. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:07, September 24, 2016 (UTC)
        • From what I read, it looks like we'll get a fantastic backstory. How did you end up getting a hold of it BTW? Darth Ravigious (talk) 23:09, September 24, 2016 (UTC)
          • WatchDisneyXD.com, with my cable subscription. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:10, September 24, 2016 (UTC)
            • Huh. Didn't know it was on demand yet. Darth Ravigious (talk) 00:12, September 25, 2016 (UTC)
              • Usually a Rebels episode will go online earlier in the day of its premiere. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 00:47, September 25, 2016 (UTC)

Re: Noel Rubin

Hello Brandon. Just wanted to make sure that I haven't done anything improper with the Noel Rubin article, since I am the on e who wroe it in the first place. If I'm not mistaken, I only used sources that were legally and widely available online at the time. Not that I'm particularly attached to that article, mind you; I'm just worried that I may have done something improper or, dare I say, illegal. :-/ --LelalMekha (talk) 22:57, September 27, 2016 (UTC)

Star Wars Uprising story script preservation website

As we all know, the game has been cancelled. I've noticed that you have contributed and edited the wiki page for Star Wars: Uprising. Therefore, I thought that you may find this interesting and useful. There is a fan who has taken the task of preserving the actual script of the story of the game. It's not complete and is still a 'work in progress', but nevertheless, I thought that some people may find this useful. You can find the website for this project HERE. --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 17:19, October 6, 2016 (UTC)

Do Not Use This

[[File:Do_Not_Use_This.png|center|300px]] "You will be banned if you use this button" Don't you think forbidding users not to upload videos except you is a bit unfair? I believe I understand the reasons behind it but what about us good responsible users who are focused on the job. The final trailer of Rogue One is out and I was about to put it up onto here until I saw that message and all the videos uploaded were done by you.

I'm tempted to put up the new trailer anyway but now I don't know. Being banned for uncovering a new official trailer.--Alex2424121 (talk) 14:25, October 13, 2016 (UTC)

  • I have community permission in order to curate the main page. That's the only place where we use videos. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:47, October 13, 2016 (UTC)

Uprising: possibly not canon?

It seems that Pablo doesn't even know the story contents of Uprising. If this is the case, then one could assume that the game is not going through the Story Group (which is essential for stories to be canon). See Pablo's twitter post here: https://twitter.com/doesjjblinks/status/789132366652514305 --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 19:41, October 20, 2016 (UTC)

  • He said he couldn't recall that, not that it never went through the Story Group. He also tweeted the other day that the events of the game are part of galactic history. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 19:46, October 20, 2016 (UTC)
    • Fair enough. I still think this is something to watch and pay attention to. I'm not saying this is an emergency or anything, it simply brings to light that this game MAY not have 100% Story Group approval. --ChristopherLeeGallant (talk) 21:42, October 20, 2016 (UTC)
      • I think you're reading into it too much. Kabam worked very closely with Lucasfilm to create the story, and Pablo specifically said the events are part of galactic history. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 21:44, October 20, 2016 (UTC)

Re: BBY/ABY

Ugh. *slowly backs away* Should be re-reverted, thanks. 1358 (Talk) 20:22, November 4, 2016 (UTC)

Regarding the Mandalores

Say Brandon, do you think we should remove Adonai Kryze, Satine Kryze, and Darth Maul from the Category? Maybe even add Gar Saxon even if the di'kut isn't technically Mand'alor. (Halo1091 (talk) 06:20, November 6, 2016 (UTC))

Wikia Image Servers

As a Wikia staffer, I'm hoping there is someone you can ask about what is wrong with the image servers. I'd like to know why they can't handle uploading PNG formatted images that are large in size, but below the maximum upload size limit of 10 MB, in some cases, significantly below. Here are a couple of examples.

  • File:Chirrut Imwe Fathead.png - the full size image uploaded at 21:34, November 7, 2016 was very slightly below the limit at 9.97 MB, but still less than what the image servers are supposed to be able to handle. I tried shrinking the image a little and brought the size down to 9.37 MB at 21:38, November 7, 2016 and it still wouldn't upload properly, so I had to revert to the previous version.
  • File:Clone trooper squad.png - the full size image was significantly smaller than the limit at 6.64 MB, yet the servers still couldn't handle it, so I had to shrink the image to the current upload to get it to work.

It's really frustrating when I'm trying to load high quality images to the site, and am regularly hindered by Wikia servers that claim to be able to handle the images, but clearly are lacking. If you could look into it, it would be greatly appreciated. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 06:15, November 8, 2016 (UTC)

  • I haven't had this issue, nor have I seen anyone else with this issue. Have you filed a bug report? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 14:28, November 8, 2016 (UTC)
    • I always forget about the bug report. thanks. I'll fill that bout now. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 00:08, November 9, 2016 (UTC)

Gar Saxon

Hey Brandon. Do you mind if I add some edits on Gar Saxon? Regarding his eyes and hair color, along with adding him in the human category. (Halo1091 (talk) 04:21, November 13, 2016 (UTC))

  • Sure, go ahead. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 16:25, November 14, 2016 (UTC)
  • Alright thanks. Do you think he should be added in category of Mandalores since his technically ruler of Mandalore in Imperial interests? We already have Satine in there or should we still wait and see if their having someone having title of Mand'alor? (Halo1091 (talk) 22:42, November 14, 2016 (UTC))
    • I don't think he should be added. I also don't think Satine should be listed as Mandalore (at least canonically—I don't know if Legends ever identified her as such). - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:26, November 14, 2016 (UTC)
  • Alright. Not sure who added her but that's just how she was listed since she was ruler of Mandalore as New Mandalorian. I'll see about removing her and her father from category since they don't count, along with Darth Maul, here's hoping no back lash will happen. (Halo1091 (talk) 23:29, November 14, 2016 (UTC))

Boba Fett

The definition of consumed is "eat, drink, or ingest (food or drink)". That is what was shown to have happened in Return of the Jedi. The definition of eat is "put (food) into the mouth and chew and swallow it". Consume and swallow ARE the same thing. That doesn't mean that Boba Fett died or didn't escape. In fact, my edit doesn't affect the ambiguity in any way, shape or form. DarkKnight2149 23:40, November 14, 2016 (UTC)

  • Implications matter, and the implication of "consumed" goes beyond just being swallowed. Eaten also goes beyond being swallowed. You're removing ambiguity through your edit, an ambiguity that was deliberately left there. Saying "consumed" adds no value to the page. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:44, November 14, 2016 (UTC)
    • If it means anything, his databank bio gallery says 'sending him soaring out of control and into the Sarlaac's mouth.' And the main page of his databank entry says 'It ignited, sending Boba careening into the side of Jabba’s sail barge and tumbling into the man-eating pit.' --Lewisr (talk) 23:50, November 14, 2016 (UTC)
      • Something like that would be preferable, because it doesn't carry the implications of "consumed." - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:54, November 14, 2016 (UTC)
        • Here is from the entry for his databank 'Before he could hit his target, however, Han accidentally slammed a pole into the bounty hunter’s jetpack. It ignited, sending Boba careening into the side of Jabba’s sail barge and tumbling into the man-eating pit.' I believe if someone was to use this and rewrite it so it's not copied then that would be suitable for the article --Lewisr (talk) 00:03, November 15, 2016 (UTC)
          • As I mentioned earlier, the ambiguity isn't affected by the statement at all, and it's not like the statement isn't true. The only implication was that he was swallowed. The only thing that goes beyond that is what you are choosing to assume based on the statement. Boba Fett could return in a story tomorrow, and the sentence wouldn't need to be altered in any way. DarkKnight2149 00:50, November 15, 2016 (UTC)

Shara Bey FFG update

Hi Brandon, the card itself doesn't contain anything relevant to the article, but the pack does. You can find the general info here. It might be worthwhile to include this, but I'll defer to your judgement. (It is FFG, after all.) - Cwedin(talk) 21:21, December 1, 2016 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the info. It doesn't feel like canonical story content, just characters teamed up for an RPG. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 21:37, December 1, 2016 (UTC)

Regarding my edit on the Hosnian Cataclysm, I apologise. I am not very skilled with technology or electronic referencing. The disturbance in the Force can be found on Princess Leia's canon article and the bits about the Senators and the Starfleet was on the Cataclysm page. As for the billions of deaths, there was certainly that many on Hosnian Prime but that should probably be left out.

Please feel free to respond to this.

Image for Guts and Glory nomination

Hello, I nominated the article Guts and Glory: A Chronicle of The Amazing Story of The Twisted Rancor Trio as a good article.

I have done my best to fulfill most of the objections, but there is one in particularly I am having trouble with. Exiled Jedi is of the opinion that the article needs an image of the book from the game. This, I disagree with since this image in question is a general image of a datapad identical to the other datapads in the game. Regardless, he seems convinced the article needs it, and I can't provide it because for some reason taking screenshots within the game only yields completely black screen pictures. Do you have the game? Is there anyway you could help provide this image for me? Or otherwise give some technical advice on how to resolve my screenshooting problem? Thanks! :) Sol PacificusFirestorm 23:04, January 16, 2017 (UTC)

  • Unfortunately I don't have the game anymore. You could try asking Cade Calrayn, since he's a big KOTOR/SWTOR fan. Darth Culator is an ace at taking screenshots too, so you could see if he has the game as well. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 00:06, January 17, 2017 (UTC)

Ezra Bridger

Thank you very much for rewriting the introduction for the Ezra Bridger article. I wasn't sure how long the optimum introduction should be in terms of word length. What would your advice be on this matter? It's good that you updated the intro with Season Three material. I'm been following Star Wars Rebels Season Three and keeping as much of the articles as I can updated. Thank you very much. Andykatib 21:06, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

  • No problem. It's tough to give a standard but the max I'd shoot for is three paragraphs, whenever possible. Google ingests information at the top of the page easier than the rest of the article, so if there's a concise summary then it's pretty helpful for search results. It's also easier for readers, especially on mobile, who want a super quick summary. I think the important thing to remember is that intros don't need to cover everything and they don't need a lot of contextual details. They just need to be a general summary of the subject. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 21:07, March 3, 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi Brandon, thanks very much for your advice. Will take that advice aboard and may the Force be with you. Andykatib 21:15, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

A weird Russian bot copying Wookieepedia?

Hi there, Brandon. Someone pointed out to me that there's a weird Russian bot that, for some reason, copies parts of Wookieepedia, such as content from my talk page or HK77. I have no idea what this is, and I don't know whether this is worth worrying about, so... What do you think? --Lelal Mekha The Uprising crest (Audience Room) 16:54, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

  • They have a source link (satisfying the "BY" (Attribution) in CC-BY-SA) so as long as their pages are also under CC-BY-SA (which would satisfy "SA" (ShareAlike)) then the copying is allowed. Looks like a tiny site that's not worth worrying about anyway. Good catch though. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:01, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

Early rebellion against the Empire

So i was re-reading the convo you were having with User:DarthRuiz30 and i was wondering what articles do you think need to be combined to make this project rebellion of yours smooth as possible? like regarding Rebel intelligence/Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service, Rebel Command/Alliance High Command, Rebel Fleet/Rebel Alliance Navy what do you want to do? and what other pages besides the Lothal insurgency do you think need to be deleted? Jkirk8907 (talk) 04:17, April 1, 2017 (UTC)

  • I think that first, before doing anything we need to do a concensus and ask what everyone else thinks about this--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 05:49, April 1, 2017 (UTC)
    • I agree more people need to chime in first, but the pages you listed, Jkirk, are definitely ones I would want to see merged together. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:27, April 1, 2017 (UTC)

Hey bud, you still have an objection on Jedi grammarian. Did you ever decide if it needs a Trash Compactor vote? If not, please go ahead and strike it so we can get it moving. Thanks! Corellian PremierJedi symbolThe Force will be with you always 18:11, April 30, 2017 (UTC)

  • I don't think the article should exist and would like to see other comments on the CAN before I strike the objection. Update questions.

Hi.

About the site update that was made a couple of months ago, I might as well ask: 1., has the editing software bug been fixed? and 2., how do I upload images or other files onto this site (and Disney Wiki for that matter, due to it having the same update) with this update? I can't exactly access the actual file upload tab due to it for some reason treating it as background if I even put my finger on the tab (in fact, the only tab that seems to even work is the Status Article tab, or rather, the very first tab up top). Weedle McHairybug (talk) 15:15, May 17, 2017 (UTC)

  • Hey Weedle. To answer your questions:
    1. The bugs in the test version of the header will be fixed in the final product's release, which will be in a few weeks. Until then the workaround I gave you should still work.
    2. We're not going to have the upload link in the header, but you can add it to your toolbar on the bottom of the page. For example, that's where I keep a link to Special:Upload. It's pretty handy. If you don't know how to customize your toolbar you can read about that here.
  • What you're describing about the tabs not working isn't something I've heard before, though. What browser and version of that browser are you using? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:20, May 17, 2017 (UTC)
    • Thanks. And for the record, I'm using Internet Explorer, and either Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11. Weedle McHairybug (talk) 15:33, May 17, 2017 (UTC)
      • Thanks for the info. Internet Explorer is not a supported browser on Fandom, so we can't guarantee that the site will work properly. Internet Explorer is also no longer supported by Microsoft, having been replaced by Edge. If you're able to, I would recommend updating to a stronger browser like Google Chrome. That way the site will work as intended. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:36, May 17, 2017 (UTC)

Question

Hi Brandon. I'd like to know if you are aware of any way of getting templates preloader like you do in this wiki for the source editor, because it would help a lot in my wiki, Sonic News Network. I actually tried many tests to get a template preloader to load templates for me, but it just does not work. Only working on IE9, and does not load any template on any other major browsers. So, if you can guide me to the proper way, I'll be thankful.--Luma.dash (talk) 08:51, May 28, 2017 (UTC)

Accessing redirected pages (also, request for a new template).

Hi.

I'm trying to create the Force Illusion article since the Imperial Entanglements unveiled the Force Power. It's a redirect currently, however, and due to the current layout of the page, trying to access the redirect link is completely impossible. Can you tell me how to access the redirect link and when that will be fixed?

Also, I'd like to request that a new template be made for anything introduced in the Fantasy Flight games after the 2014 reboot that specifically deals with Fantasy Flight Games and makes clear that they qualify as both Canon material and Legends. The reason I'm requesting this was due to a tweet that someone I know made to Matt Martin's Twitter account that essentially said as much via an image showing the selection "It's complicated" in a current relationship status selection header. You can read it here: https://twitter.com/missingwords/status/860603520881315841 Weedle McHairybug (talk) 00:31, May 29, 2017 (UTC)

  • If you go to the redirect URL and it brings you to the main article, add ?redirect=no to the end of the URL. That will bring you to the redirect page. This bug will be fixed when the final version of the page and article headers are officially released in a couple of weeks. In regards to a FFG template, I'd suggest bringing that idea up on a Senate Hall thread. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 01:34, May 30, 2017 (UTC)

Page header

Hey I wanted to ask if we can have the navigation header for my wiki http://theboldandthebeautiful.wikia.com/wiki/TheBoldandtheBeautiful_Wiki --Alannip 22:40, June 1, 2017 (UTC)User:Alanpop

  • Hi, we're not releasing it on any other test wikis right now, but the final version will be released in about 2 weeks on all wikis. You can read more here. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:44, June 1, 2017 (UTC)

Mission to steal Imperial disruptors

Hey Brandon, thought I'd leave this on your talk page as you got the article to status, I was going through the databanks on StarWars.com and noticed that they actually named it 'mission to steal Imperial weapons' on slide 6. I don't really know whether you can change the name of an article once it has status, but in case you can (or if you want to that is) I'll leave that upto you to decide --Lewisr (talk) 03:35, July 29, 2017 (UTC)

  • Just saw this. Thanks for the heads up. You can change an article name post-status so I'll make that change. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 02:51, August 10, 2017 (UTC)
    • No problem! --Lewisr (talk) 02:53, August 10, 2017 (UTC)

Star Wars Explained video for the TIE silencer

Hi there, first of all I want to say that I was already a follower of the Star Wars Explained YouTube channel and I think these short videos work really great in the articles. I have recently moved one of those articles, the TIE/vn space superiority fighter, per the reasons I have stated in the edit summary. Unfortunately, the Star Wars Explained video is still linked to the original page, and unavailable in the current one. I just wanted to let you know about this issue, and I am sorry if I caused you trouble. Thanks! TanDivoInsignia-SenateMurders AnilSerifoglu (talk) 23:38, August 12, 2017 (UTC)

  • The backend method used to add Featured Videos to a page requires a precise URL, so if a page is moved then the backend method needs to be updated. I just did that so the video is appearing at the correct URL now. Thanks for letting me know! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 00:01, August 13, 2017 (UTC)

Sith Spirit

There seem to be a couple of contradictory sources regarding the nature of Force Spirits. TCW implies that Sith could not become ghosts, but both Rebels and Aftermath: Empire's End state that they can become spirits, but this seems to only be the case if they are bound to relics of some kind (The Presence with her Holocron and Darth Exim with his mask). This is not far off from how it is in Legends, but to avoid confusion, how do you feel about making a separate article for "Sith Spirit", since they seem to actually be two separate "things", so to speak? Darth Ravigious (talk) 21:01, August 20, 2017 (UTC)

  • What does Empire's End say about them? I don't remember anything from Rebels about that either, so if you could refresh my memory there that'd be great. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 21:18, August 20, 2017 (UTC)
    • I am referring to the Holocron. She was credited as the "Presence", which would imply that it is more than an artificial intelligence, instead being dark energy. I remember Filoni referring to her as a "spirit" in an interview, however it is very likely that it was a slip-up on his part and he did not mean to call it that. In terms of Empire's End, there was a point somewhere where Yupe Tashu was communicating with the Spirit of Darth Exim and other ancient Sith somehow bound to Exim's mask. Again, it is possible that he was delusional, as I forget the exact lines used, but that is what I was going off of. Mind you, this was from memory and I only possess an audio copy. I sent a tweet to Matt Martin to clear anything up. :) Darth Ravigious (talk) 21:25, August 20, 2017 (UTC)
      • If I may chime in, here's what I could find in Empire's End after a cursory glance. One thing's for sure, Yupe Tashu and his disciples believe in "the Sith beyond—those who have died and who wait beyond the veil and whose orders the Acolytes follow." They believe "those ancient specters are the ones who give them the dreams", and Tashu claims they talk to him (at one point, he says "You do not deny the wishes of the venerable specters!"). When Kiza puts on the mask of Exim Panshard, she feels overwhelmed by something, and "anger not entirely her own threads up through her like braiding vines." --Lelal Mekha The Uprising crest (Audience Room) 21:47, August 20, 2017 (UTC)
        • So perhaps it is safe to say that Sith can preserve aspects of their essences and consciousness, but cannot become true force ghosts like the Jedi? It seems that they have to be bound to an object to "live" after death. Darth Ravigious (talk) 21:52, August 20, 2017 (UTC)
          • I don't think Rebels should be included. There's a difference between preserving yourself as a spirit and preserving your consciousness/memories/thoughts in a holocron. The former is your soul, the latter is basically artificial intelligence. As for Aftermath, I think it's worthwhile to include the information about "the Sith beyond" with the note that it's what the Acolytes believed and claimed. I'm not sure what the best article is for it, though. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:11, August 21, 2017 (UTC)

RE: Valorum

Hey! All that's said is 'had the Senate chosen a different chancellor after the deposition of the weak, ineffectual Valorum, galactic order itself might have fallen apart'. Barring in mind this was said in a museum for Palpatine, that last part could be exaggerated, but not sure if the part about him being weak and ineffectual is anything new? --Lewisr (talk) 21:12, September 4, 2017 (UTC)

Shara Bey nom

I'm not as up to speed on FAQ requirements as I used to be, which is why I'm not bringing this up on the nomination page. But, shouldn't her skills and abilities section include her versatility as a pilot, stating th various types of craft she was skilled at flying? She could pilot an assault craft, an N-1 fighter, an ARC-170 starfighter (per the X-Wing Miniatures game source) and an A-wing (per the Star Wars: Armada source, and image). - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 03:39, September 12, 2017 (UTC)

  • Given that we don't know the workings (to my knowledge) of the individual crafts, I'm not sure whether it's noteworthy to say she has the skills to pilot all of them. Is this typical of articles about pilots? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 04:39, September 12, 2017 (UTC)
    • I don't know if it's typical or not, but I just saw that you mentioned in the intro that she was a decorated A-wing pilot. Yet throughout her biography it also mentions other piloting feats in other types of craft, such as the fairly skilled piloting of the Assault shuttle after the battle of Endor, and then flying old and outdated N-1 fighters against overwhelming Imperial forces over Naboo. Then you have the X-Wing miniatures game which demonstrate she was also adept at flying ARC-170 fighters, which were also older and outdated. That all seems to be worth mentioning how versatile she was at being able to fly several very different and distinct types of craft. Just a throught. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 05:20, September 12, 2017 (UTC)

Lego Pages

Why exactly is this being implemented now? The reasoning behind it is very thin and it defies the integrity of this wiki. It seems very childish as it is not an actual canon standard (a vague Leland Chee should not decide the format of this wiki.) Filing Lego content in a specific canon may work for Chee but for Wookieepedia all it does is cheapen the integrity. I suggest that a new Lego Star Wars Wiki should be created in itself so as to not clutter this Wiki with unnecessary non-canon Lego information. --Benjay2345 (talk) 02:11, September 16, 2017 (UTC)

  • You can see my reasoning on your recently-created Consensus Track forum. You can also see an expanded version of my reasoning on the original CT thread. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 02:55, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
    • I see your reasoning however I would like to propose perhaps an alternate idea. It seems odd to me to put the Lego version of characters in such a large spotlight when they are the least canon portrayal of the characters. I say if the characters are not specifically Lego characters do not have a Lego version of the character page. This way the Freemaker Adventures is represented but we don't have an unnecessary Lego page for major characters such as Luke that play next to no role in the Lego universe. What do you think of this? Also, if we are going forward with this, someone needs to create Lego pages for the necessary characters. There are so few pages created right now for the Lego universe that it seems pointless to have it.--Benjay2345 (talk) 03:39, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
      • I think LEGO is a major part of the franchise and we should cover its appearances. I also think you're getting hung up on Luke Skywalker. There are plenty of original LEGO characters. They also sometimes interact with canon characters. We should have a space, other than a Behind the Scenes section that no one will read, to document information about those appearances. Hence pages like Luke Skywalker/LEGO. Also, the tab was created like a day ago. We will of course be creating pages about LEGO characters. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 03:41, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
        • Just to let you know I'm not at all opposed to these ideas (just trying to decide if there is a better way to execute them.) What do you think about the idea of not having the tabs necessarily and just accessing pages like Luke Skywalker/LEGO via the pages of other Lego characters when these interactions happen?--Benjay2345 (talk) 03:46, September 16, 2017 (UTC)
          • I support having a tab. Regardless of individual editor preferences, LEGO is and will continue to be a major part of the franchise. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 03:53, September 16, 2017 (UTC)

I am in favour of LEGO tabs. However, here are characters that received names in LEGO sources. Before, we'd put a '1stID' in non-can appearances, but these have been removed. Do we go with BTS section only? Please reply on my talk page.--ZapikCZ (talk) 08:58, September 16, 2017 (UTC)

Socialism

OK then, sorry for being too speculative (although the Cobalt Front is pretty much described as socialist without using the word). Best to delete the canon page for now, then, until we have a better source. JagoAndLitefoot (talk) 19:59, September 16, 2017 (UTC)

Archiving CT Post

What is the protocol for archiving a consensus track post? As I now see that the Lego tabs are inevitable the CT post about repealing them is now moot and might as well be archived. --Benjay2345 (talk) 03:23, September 17, 2017 (UTC)

  • I don't think there is one. I think the CT just has to wait for its expiration date at which point an admin will archive it. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 04:49, September 17, 2017 (UTC)

Poster

Hi, I tried to upload a new version of the poster uploaded, but mine is .jpg instead of .png of the currently used, the uploader didn't let me upload it as a new version--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 04:23, September 27, 2017 (UTC)

  • Besides the poster I uploaded is a higher version to the currently used--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 04:24, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
    • You can convert the image from a .jpg to a .png. If you use a Mac, you can do this by opening the image in preview, duplicating the image, and then saving a new version as a .png. If you're using Windows then unfortunately I don't know how to do that but I'm sure a Google search can turn up the answer! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 04:25, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
      • I forgot about that, but well I usually see people doing the same, so I don't see the problem deleting one. --DarthRuiz30 (talk) 04:27, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
        • Uploading a brand new file and then tagging another one for deletion creates an unnecessary task for the admins. You should always upload a new version of an existing file rather than creating a new file, whenever possible. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 04:28, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
          • Yeah, still I've seen admins doing the same and well established users doing it, but anyways the only thing that matters is that the poster is now the one with higher resolution--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 04:30, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
            • Whether they do it or not doesn't mean you should, of course. If there's a better method of doing something and it can save other people time in the process, always take the better method! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 04:34, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
              • Just a question, Image policy says that PNG files should be used for logos, drawing, etc and jpg for photographic images. Shouldn't the image I uploaded (jpg) be used for this case? --DarthRuiz30 (talk) 08:43, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
                • Well forget it, image was deleted--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 09:33, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
                  • PNGs have always been encouraged because they scale down in the infobox at a higher quality than JPG images. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:15, September 27, 2017 (UTC)

  • I don't remember saying it should be deleted, to be honest with you, so I don't know what my reasoning would've been at the time. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 05:20, October 25, 2017 (UTC)
    • I found where this was said, you mentioned here (the one below as you both seemed to use the rebellion as a title to Ruiz) that you want to merge pages like Lothal insurgency to Early rebellion against the Galactic Empire and treat the events of Rebels as part of that, I think that should include Second Lothal insurgency as well --Lewisr (talk) 10:56, October 25, 2017 (UTC)

Question

Why doesn't the message from Leia Organa following the victory at the Battle of Endor have a page? It appears in multiple stories. We have the full text from Aftermath and visuals from Star Wars: Uprising. Thanks.--ZapikCZ (talk) 17:41, November 1, 2017 (UTC)

  • I'm not sure it needs a page. It's a transmission to some Rebels but there's lots of speeches and broadcasts that don't have pages. Mon Mothma's speech that led to the formation of the Rebel Alliance doesn't have a page and arguably it's far more important than Leia's message. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:46, November 1, 2017 (UTC)
    • Do you think it's worth it to make a CT or something to make pages for things like this or the one Ezra made in Season 1? I think it'd be a good page because it could have all the history from the stories it appeared in. Like the Leia speach would have Aftermath, Uprising, Turning Point (Jason Hough) and probably something else I forgot.--ZapikCZ (talk) 18:32, November 1, 2017 (UTC)
      • I'd create a SH discussion rather than a vote, and see what people think. I would also look into how Legends pages did this. There's a consensus amongst a lot of people here that the way that Legends pages do things are the way that things have always been done and therefore are supposed to be done, so that will inform how a lot of people approach your discussion. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 18:35, November 1, 2017 (UTC)

Questions

I'm not edit warring, I am trying to make the pages' inbox's look the best that they can. The image that is now in Rey's infobox is way to tight of crop and taller than what looks normal in an infobox image. Also, what exactly is low quality about the Finn image? It is higher quality than the image being used now for Rey's infobox.--Benjay2345 (talk) 22:53, November 5, 2017 (UTC)

  • "too tight a crop" and "taller than what looks normal" are subjective. The crops you were making were, no offense, not that well done. That's not a reflection on you, but rather it's extremely difficult to make images transparent when you're dealing with hair because you're inevitably cutting things out. At that point, you're altering a source image - which is not allowed. Arguably making so many of these images transparent is also altering a source image. As for Finn, it was blown up and blurry. It's not high quality at all. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:56, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
    • But why is the image that is on Rey's infobox allowed when it is lower quality? --Benjay2345 (talk) 22:57, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
      • "lower quality" is your opinion. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:58, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
        • The quality of an image is not an opinion.--Benjay2345 (talk) 22:58, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
          • Clearly it is if you're saying blurry images are high quality. ;) I'd suggest you take it up with Cav. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:59, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
            • I'm not trying to take up anything with anybody I am just trying to figure out why all of the sudden images that have been absolutely fine in infoboxes are all of the sudden being purged. Doesn't the background in the current Rey image seem at least a little bit distracting in terms of infobox images especially when an existing standee of this exact Rey photo exists and is higher quality?--Benjay2345 (talk) 23:03, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
              • In your opinion, do you think that this image of Rey would be better for the infobox? File:Rey The Last Jedi promo (not to be used on page).png Unsigned comment by Benjay2345 (talk • contribs)
                • No, I would keep the version with the background. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:49, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
                  • Just trying to understand better, what is your reasoning behind thinking the one with the background is better?--Benjay2345 (talk) 23:51, November 5, 2017 (UTC)
                    • It makes the beginning of the page look more dynamic and captures a reader's attention better, as opposed to a generic white background. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:52, November 5, 2017 (UTC)

Rebel cell links

Is there a reason why we can't have links in say the Massassi Groups, Phoenix Squadron, or the Spectres to the rebel cell page if they have rebel cell listed? The same goes for Imperial remnants? I mean i know they are disambig pages but still a rebel cell is a rebel cell the same as an imperial remnant is still a imperial remnant?Jkirk8907 (talk) 22:06, November 8, 2017 (UTC)

Luke Skywalker's compass

It's based on an image of a toy the same as Tallie Lintra was originally identified as "Tallie" or that First Order Heavy Scout Walker exists on the Wook.--ZapikCZ (talk) 19:51, November 14, 2017 (UTC)

  • All that means is he has a compass. Is it probably the same one? Yeah, but until an official source draws a direct link between that toy, the film, and the game, it's speculative to say it's the same thing. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 20:00, November 14, 2017 (UTC)
    • It looks exactly the same.--ZapikCZ (talk) 20:19, November 14, 2017 (UTC)
      • We still need to be patient and wait for confirmation that it's the same rather than making assumptions. It's important to be right, not fast. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 20:21, November 14, 2017 (UTC)

Unidentified articles

Hello Brandon, in the past week I have noticed 5 unregistered users in 5 days who have created 21 unidentified stormtrooper articles, and 1 unidentified character article that are hardly worth having due to them not having any notable action as well as several of them having unconfirmed information and incorrect information. I was in the process of creating a trash compactor, but there are over 22 articles and it seems like a long process, especially to me since I don't have much experience in technical action such as this. To me and several others I've spoken to, it seems like it's the same person but has a different IP address every day due to the relevancy of the articles created and that these articles are not necessary. I'm not sure what course of action to take. I have a list of all the articles as well. What do you suggest? Thank you.--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 04:39, November 26, 2017 (UTC)

Additions to page

Hey, just wondering how my edit was an unnecessary addition? All I did was organize the Imperial forces per how it's generally organized since they were all over the place and add Kassius Konstantine's fleet to it. Thanks just wondering.--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 17:38, November 27, 2017 (UTC)

  • Adding that level of organizational detail—Imperial Military, Imperial Army, Kassius Konstantine's fleet, etc—isn't necessary. Conflict pages don't use that level of detail. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:40, November 27, 2017 (UTC)

My signature

Ah, yes, that’s been a pain here for a while now. I created a signature for use on Community Central and other wikis, but the image I am using is an animated .gif file, and those aren’t permitted as images for sigs here. I’d alter my signature, but I’m currently using it in a few other locations and revamping it on those wikis would be a bit of a pain.Yo.-User:Fan26 (Talk) 04:00, December 1, 2017 (UTC)

Unused files

I just wanted to let you know that I'm about to resume my periodic purges of unused files, and since there appear to be a bunch of files that may be used by various Wikia features that don't show as "used" to Mediawiki, I want to make it known in advance that I'm giving you and any other Wikia staffer explicit permission to restore anything important that I may accidentally delete (I know you'll do that anyway, I'm just making it clear that I won't put up a fuss like I often have in the past 😛). I'm going to try to work around anything that looks like one of your shiny bits, but it would be helpful if you might like to put any loose files you see into the holding cell for apparently-unused-but-actually-used files (which is a protected page, but as staff you should have the ability to edit it, and again, I'm saying to go ahead and do that without the usual huffing-and-puffing). Thanks. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 23:39, December 9, 2017 (UTC)

Vandalism on Executor search page

Hello, a user wrote on the Talk:Executor that the search page for the article was vandalized. So when people search up the executor, the little summary on the search results has been altered. I can't seem to find any sort of vandalism on the actual page, so someone must've hacked the search page or something. This is what shows when people search up Executor. Thanks!--Vitus InfinitusTalk 02:44, January 3, 2018 (UTC)

Alliance

Hey, this topic was basically resolved. Just read that in the book, the Atrivis Resistance Group was one of the first to join what Mon Mothma was calling "the Alliance" around 5 BBY, which explains a lot. It's not until 2 BBY that it officially becomes the Alliance to Restore the Republic. That entire discussion may or may not have been necessary lol, but at least we discussed it.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 04:14, January 9, 2018 (UTC)

Hey, User:JB687Fan continues to change the name of the header. I reverted it twice, and User:DarthRuiz30 reverted it once I believe. Featured Videos

Hey there Brandon. Hoping you can help me out. One of the reasons I hate the wikia skin, and kept using the monobook skin until recently is because of the (what I consider) stupid featured videos at the top of the popular pages. I hate them, and I would like to know if you know of a way to disable them just for myself so they don't display for me. I've searched at Help:Featured Videos and Help:Videos but can't see to find the information I need. Any help you can provide would be most appreciated. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 17:40, January 20, 2018 (UTC)

  • Hey JMAS. I believe that if you add the code that Ecks is using here to your Wikia.css file then it should hide Featured Videos for you. (Note that this sort of coding, while allowed for personal use, is unsupported which is why you won't find it in help pages.) Since I run the Featured Video team, I wanted to ask - do you not like them as a product in general (as in you don't like the fact that there's videos on the page) or do you not like the content? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:57, January 20, 2018 (UTC)
    • Thank you for the information. I honestly don't know anything about editing a personal css file, so I'll have to investigate doing that, perhaps using Xd as an example. I have no problem with the content of the video whatsoever. I don't like the placement at the very top of the page. I don't find that appealing at all. I wouldn't mind it as much if it was at the bottom of the page. I also dislike that the autoplay can only be set for 2 weeks. If a person disables autoplay for the videos, it is highly unlikely that they'll be okay with it in two weeks time. I feel each user should have the option to enable/disable permanently in their user preferences. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 22:00, January 20, 2018 (UTC)
      • If you copy what Ecks has in his file (not counting all of that intro text since that's just standard), you can then go to User:JMAS/wikia.css and create the page by pasting and saving what you copied from Ecks. As for the product itself, I appreciate your candor. What I'm about to say may not change your opinion, but hopefully it adds some context at least!
        • The top placement is what allows the pre-roll ads to meet an advertising threshold called viewability. Advertisers are interested in their ads being as viewable as possible. The more viewable an ad is, the more valuable that ad is. As a result of highly valuable Featured Video placements, we've actually been able to remove 30% of the advertisements from every wiki article. It's also improved overall site performance (there will be more on that on Community Central later this coming week). Though I understand where you're coming from about preferring the videos on the bottom, we wouldn't have been able to clean up the ad experience or improve page performance if we put it on the bottom. So it's a tradeoff, but - at least in my opinion - a pretty effective one.
        • I tend to agree about the autoplay disabling. Adding a permanent preference for logged-in users is something we're considering as we evolve the product. I'm hopeful!
      • Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:10, January 20, 2018 (UTC)
        • Oh, I understand advertising placement. I worked 13 years for a company that used website & pop up advertising heavily. I didn't realize thos videos had ads at the beginning. I totally understand why they are where they are. Doesn't mean I have to like it. ;) Thanks again for your help. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 01:53, January 21, 2018 (UTC)

Star Wars Destiny

Hello. Can you please tell, why Star Wars Destiny is considered as canonical game? Someone from the demiurgees denoted it or somewhere it was written. HellK9t (talk) 11:44, February 19, 2018 (UTC)

  • I'm of the opinion that FFG material shouldn't be considered canon (or Legends for that matter), since they exist to provide tools for role-players rather than to tell a canonical story. However, that's the subject of a lot of debate here, and that debate has yet to be resolved. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:08, February 19, 2018 (UTC)
    • Yeah that's an issue that needs to be fixed. That type of material has been called "canon-adjacent" multiple times by LSG. I'm planning to discuss it with Christopher and several others on what possible steps we could take to address this issue and possible solutions.--Vitus InfinitusTalk 22:13, February 19, 2018 (UTC)

Re: Anaxes asteroid ring/belt

Sources consistently use the nomenclature "asteroid belt" in reference to this particular object. Listen, anyone who had gone to the JCF knows your opinion on RPG materials, but that does not change the fact that Dawn of Rebellion is an official resource, and was written as the official RPG supplements to Rebels and R1: https://twitter.com/missingwords/status/975897517182218240 We don't have any ambiguity surrounding the canonicity of this resource. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 15:43, March 23, 2018 (UTC)

  • I apologize for being presumptuous. I've just seen a lot of discussions that attempt to discount DoR entirely by virtue of being an RPG source. But, yeah, asteroid belt is the most consistently used nomenclature and I moved the article based on that logic. - AV-6R7Crew Pit 15:52, March 23, 2018 (UTC)

Arising Contradictions

Hey, I've been wondering how to reconcile a certain contradiction that seems to have arisen with The Galactic Atlas and the Adventures in Wild Space series. It seems like the Galactic Atlas places Mira and Ephraim Bridger's broadcasts against the Empire as having happened in 14 BBY.

But the Adventures in Wild Space series seems to have contradicted this because by virtue of its setting and events, the Bridgers have seemingly been broadcasting as early as 18 BBY. One of the admins questioned how the time setting of the Wild Space series was taken. Well the common answer seems to be that since Adventures in Wild Space: The Steal identifies Ezra Bridger as an infant and the Galactic Atlas itself places him as being born in 19 BBY, so that's where we get our setting(and seemingly another inner contradiction with Galactic Atlas with the 14 BBY and 19 BBY entries). Would just like to get your input on how to solve this matter in terms of future references in related articles especially since The Steal actually came out a few months before the Galactic Atlas did. Thanks! --Kingsman28 (talk) 19:31, April 12, 2018 (UTC)

  • Hey. It's hard for me to say without knowing specifically what the Galactic Atlas text says. However I see no reason why they can't both be true. We know the Bridgers disappeared when Ezra was a kid, old enough to remember them, so they presumably started in whatever year Adventures in Wild Space is set and then 14 BBY was their arrest. So it just means the broadcasted lasted awhile. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 20:15, April 12, 2018 (UTC)
  • Hmm...Well I suppose I gave that possibility a thought too. But after rechecking the entries here on Wookiepedia, apparently the Bridgers were actually captured in 12 BBY, as referenced from the Star Wars Rebels episode Gathering Forces. So either someone inputted these references incorrectly or there is an error. I guess you are right that we won't really know for sure until we actually get to go over the actual Galactic Atlas entry. --Kingsman28 (talk) 08:28, April 13, 2018 (UTC)

Rotten Tomatoes

About my edit on TLJ, the source of it is literally the same source as the rest of the Rotten Tomatoes information. That's why I put it there; the source itself will link you to said information.

And what's this about review scores being "manipulated by a small group of people?" How did they do that? Do you have proof of this? And are we supposed to pretend said number doesn't exist, and omit it from the wiki? That doesn't sound like accuracy to me.

Benandi (talk) 23:20, April 19, 2018 (UTC)

  • Yes, it was widely reported that disgruntled fans used (and admitted to using) Facebook account bots in order to manipulate the score. Without that information, just providing the audience score alone is biased information. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:22, April 19, 2018 (UTC)

Except it isn't providing the audience score alone. It's right next to literally every single other review on the site, critics or otherwise. And you do realize that the audience is literally comprised of millions of people? It's completely impossible for any small group to manipulate a review score that much. You can't just omit the information and only show critic scores. Just providing the critic score alone is also biased information. Benandi (talk) 23:29, April 19, 2018 (UTC)

  • When I say "audience score alone," I mean without the context of the score manipulation. Feel free to re-add in the score only if you're also providing the information about score manipulation. Like you said, you can't omit information. I'm not going to continue this debate that. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:36, April 19, 2018 (UTC)

Should I also add in the fact that Rotten Tomatoes themselves responded to and debunked the bots theory and stated that they didn't detect any unusual activity on their site? Benandi (talk) 23:39, April 19, 2018 (UTC)

Rey's vision

Hey, I noticed that in the Force Awakens Graphic Novelization, Rey's vision there actually shows a robed figure holding a red lightsaber thrusting it into the chest of another robed figure holding a blue lightsaber. The image is placed in between the Knights of Ren image and Ben touching R2 with his mechanical hand image, making it appear as if it might be set during the massacre, but of course that's open to interpretation.

Do you think that warrants a mention in Rey's page or is this one of the scenes in the film which doesn't have room for adjustment with something like that? Obviously I wouldn't classify it as happening during the massacre, since I aint a hundred percent sure. I'd just like to include it.

Thanks. --Kingsman28 (talk) 10:13, May 19, 2018 (UTC)

Protections

I need not remind you that page protections are an administrative prerogative on Wookieepedia, regardless of staff's de facto ability to perform them. I would appreciate if you refrained from performing them again. I see that Cav did the rest, and that's how it should be done. You also have zero right to edit our MediaWiki announcements and continuing to do so will be overstepping your jurisdiction. I hope that you take this matter seriously. Thank you. 1358 (Talk) 21:37, May 23, 2018 (UTC)

    • I was unaware of that. I apologize. 1358 (Talk) 21:44, May 23, 2018 (UTC)
      • My main problem with this is that large-scale temporary protections should be done using cascading protection; this would preserve the original protection levels once the temporary protections expire. I pointed this out back in Forum:SH:Wookieepedia spoiler lockdown but it appears to have gone unnoticed. 1358 (Talk) 21:51, May 23, 2018 (UTC)

Messages

Just because you did it in 4 minutes doesnt mean too much, especially if a user who has been warned since January keeps ignoring it. Between Lewis and I, but especially Lewis have been fixing it. If someone wants to contribute here needs to learn the basics--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 04:59, June 11, 2018 (UTC)

  • Yet, does that mean that the article can't be cleaned up? If it's slapped with a verify tag, it will be deleted in a week because no one is inclined to touch it. By all means warn the user, but why should the article be deleted in a week if it's a valid entry? We need to be better at both showing users the basics and collaborating with them on their articles. You can ban them for continuing to ignore talk page messages while still making sure that valid entries are up to par. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 05:01, June 11, 2018 (UTC)
    • Its late at night and verify is used for this cases when the user doesn't add a valid source like linking to Wikipedia when there's not even a wikipedia page r wrongfully formatting the IMDB template. With the verify tag I can give time to the user to fix it, but that doesn't mean I'm ignoring it I know that article is there and was planning to fix it tomorrow if the user continued to ignore the messages. I may look like I'm lazy I know you may think that, but believe me I keep record of this kind of pages (Verify, wrongly formatted, etc) and try to fix it next day if they haven't been touched. Anyway good night and thanks for the help with all those pages!--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 05:17, June 11, 2018 (UTC)
      • Have a good night as well. Please understand where I'm coming from too, however—most pages that are slapped with a verify tag, or any other sort of clean up tag, are rarely touched. You may not be lazy about it, and that's commendable, but there certainly is a site-wide laziness when it comes to slapping templates. Take a look at this user's talk page too. I just left him a message offering to help him. As best as I can tell, not a single one of the warnings given to him beforehand (including one I gave him, to be totally fair) included an offer for help. Whether he takes me up on that offer or not, the lack of any offer to help in such a long period of time is not good. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 05:20, June 11, 2018 (UTC)
        • This was a very good idea. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 05:21, June 11, 2018 (UTC)
          • Absolutely there's a tendency of just slapping templates to articles, which at least the verify ones I'm trying to help with. As for offering help, I didn't noticed it, offering help should be the first thing to do. I assumed that given the first warning on January someone may have helped him or at least seen the welcome template, next time I'll first look if someone offered help before. And thanks it was an excellent idea I don't know why I didn't thought about it before, I was looking at someone of the verify tags and for example CEC Island is a totally valid entry from SWTOR that if it doesn't get fixed tonight, I'm totally fixing it tomorrow. Anyway thanks for the help with those voice actors articles--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 05:29, June 11, 2018 (UTC)
            • No problem, happy to help. Always great to see someone being diligent about following through on maintenance templates! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 05:31, June 11, 2018 (UTC)

Jedi or Jedi Order

Thank you for the suggestion. I posted the question on the Senate Hall, as you recommended. In the event that Jedi and Jedi Order remain as separate articles, would it make more sense for certain characters' affiliations, such as Ezra Bridger and Rey, to list "Jedi Order" instead of "Jedi"? I suppose they're interchangeable, like "Sith" and "Sith Order," but given that we have separate articles for "Jedi" and "Jedi Order" I think merely stating "Jedi" in the affiliations box implies that the Jedi Order no longer existed by the time of Bridger or Rey, which isn't the case given that the Order survived up to Luke's time and even began to grow once more under his watch, albeit briefly anyway. JRT2010 (talk) 06:12, June 11, 2018 (UTC)

  • Tough call, and I think that warrants conversation. For Ezra in particular, I might argue that the Jedi Order collapsed but was reconstituted in Luke's time, so Ezra was never actually a part of the Jedi Order. I could see an argument for the other way, though. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 06:48, June 11, 2018 (UTC)

Hey Brandon! Another user was wanting to know if the DVD-ROM Depth Commentary for Revenge of the Sith was considered canon? They say they couldn't eat your talk page so figured I'd pass on the question, thanks! --Lewisr (talk) 22:56, June 26, 2018 (UTC)

  • Why would they want to eat my talk page? XD Just a little typo humor there... But anywho, my guess is that it wouldn't be because if it's not in a story then there's no guarantee it's canonical truth. What's the information in question? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:58, June 26, 2018 (UTC)
    • Haha how bizarre! Fair enough, its concerning Unlimited Projection/Canon, apparently the commentary confirms the name of the Core ship Grievous used on Utapau as a base is Unlimited Projection --Lewisr (talk) 23:03, June 26, 2018 (UTC)
      • Do you know what the DVD-ROM Depth Commentary is? Like is this just normal movie commentary or something else? - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:15, June 26, 2018 (UTC)
        • It seems to be just normal movie commentary. I can't find any mention of DVD-ROM Depth Commentary anywhere, just the standard movie commentary --Lewisr (talk) 23:24, June 26, 2018 (UTC)
          • In that case I wouldn't treat it as canon, since anything in a commentary is just that. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 23:46, June 26, 2018 (UTC)
            • Makes complete sense, thank you for clearing that up! --Lewisr (talk) 23:48, June 26, 2018 (UTC)

Attack on Imperial interrogator droids

Brandon - wanted to let you know that Attack on Imperial interrogator droids, which we both promoted to Good status, was placed on probation. I'm going to see what I can do to fix things up when I have the chance, but since you were the one who was mostly responsible for the improvements which helped to make it a Good article, I thought you should know as well. Personally, I think that there oughta be some sort of notification sent to the talk page of the original nominator when probation happens, but I suppose it is what it is. Hopefully we can get it fixed up and keep it as Good. I'd hate to see status taken away from another article. ProfessorTofty (talk) 19:43, October 8, 2018 (UTC)
