"She had the skin-scribe give her a tattoo of her own, the runes spelling my name! Mine!"
―Yarzion Vell, to Ordea[1]

A humanoid individual worked as a skin-scribe during the High Republic Era.[1] By 230 BBY,[2] Jedi Padawan Yarzion Vell—a member of the same species—returned to his homeworld and decided to follow the planet's tradition of being tattooed with the name of one's greatest teacher. He had the skin-scribe tattoo the name of his Jedi Master, Lulad, on his head in runes in his ancestor's language. When Lulad learned what he had done, she had the skin-scribe tattoo herself with Vell's name, explaining that a Jedi's greatest lessons came from those they taught.[1]

In 227 BBY,[2] after Lulad's death, Vell told his new Master, Kelnacca, about the skin-scribe while explaining his tattoo's meaning.[1] Around 149 BBY,[3] as Vell was dying, he mentioned the skin-scribe to his own Padawan, Ordea. The skin-scribe had green skin with black tattoos on their arms and head. They wore a white shirt, white gloves, brown pants, and brown boots and used a tool to apply tattoos.[1]

Behind the scenes

The skin-scribe appeared in a flashback in the one-shot comic The Acolyte - Kelnacca 1, which was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Marika Cresta,[1] and published by Marvel Comics on September 4, 2024.[4]
