- "We're not gonna—make it?"
- ―The Nihil, believing they will impact another ship before being proved wrong
A humanoid male pirate served among the Nihil marauders and worked onboard a hauler that carried crystals to the starship Gaze Electric inside the Nihil's Occlusion Zone region of space during the High Republic Era. In 228 BBY, the pirate panicked alongside the rest of the crew after another ship was located in their hyperspace exit path. Having doubted that the crew would survive and believed that a collision would occur, the pirate rejoiced in the cockpit of the hauler alongside their crewmates after they managed to prevent the hauler from impacting the ship.
Their cheer was quickly cut short as the occupants of the other ship, the humans Alys "Crash" Ongwa and Krix Kamerat, forced the crew to surrender. Once another member of the crew was shot dead by Kamerat for refusing to comply, Ongwa instructed Kamerat to tie the remaining pirates up. The hauler was then commandeered by Ongwa, who took it to the planet Eriadu.

- ―The Nihil, celebrating not impacting with a ship
The humanoid pirate (left of center) panics with other pirates onboard the hauler.
During the High Republic Era, a humanoid male individual served within the Nihil marauder organization. They served onboard a hauler which mainly transported crystals in the Occlusion Zone region of space ruled by the Nihil to the starship Gaze Electric which assisted in allowing the Stormwall,[1] a hyperspace barrier created by the Nihil,[2] to function properly.[1] In 228 BBY,[3] the humanoid was filled with fear after a Pau'an crew member announced that another object—a ship—was in their hauler's hyperspace exit path. As the crew struggled to resolve the issue, the pirate believed that a collision with the other ship was inevitable, but they questioned their statement after the hauler stopped without impacting the smaller ship.[1]
The pirate, along with the rest of the crew, celebrated upon realizing that a collision did not transpire, with the humanoid shouting a statement that counteracted their previous one. However, their relief was interrupted by the human occupants of the other ship, the anti-Nihil freedom fighter Alys "Crash" Ongwa and former Nihil Krix Kamerat. The pair held blasters at the crew and instructed them to surrender with their hands up. One of the crew refused and fought back but was swiftly eliminated by Kamerat with a precise shot. Ongwa asked if any other Nihil wished to be "heroic" as well, which prompted silence among the remaining crew members. As Ongwa left the cockpit to check the cargo hold of the hauler, she directed Kamerat to tie the pirate and their allies up. Ultimately, Ongwa commandeered the hauler and took it and the cargo to people in need on the planet Eriadu.[1]
Personality and traits
- "Krix, go ahead and tie these fellas up."
- ―Crash Ongwa to Krix Kamerat, regarding the pirates
The pirate was doubtful the crew would survive the impending crash with another ship and panicked with the rest of the crew, but they corrected themselves when proven wrong and celebrated along with their crewmates. The humanoid became nervous again upon spotting Ongwa and Kamerat at the cockpit's entrance. They had pointed ears along with light skin, brown eyes, and a white mustache.[1]
Equipment
The pirate wore a brown flight suit and a round gray hat with orange goggles on their head. They also wore a belt with a holster that carried a blaster, gray knee and elbow pads, gray gloves, and grayish boots. On their shoulders the pirate donned two pauldrons, upon both of which the Eye of the Nihil insignia had been inscribed.[1]
Behind the scenes
The humanoid Nihil appeared in the one-shot comic The High Republic Adventures: Crash and Burn. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Nick Brokenshire, and published by Dark Horse Comics as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase III[1] on September 4, 2024.[4] In one panel, the pirate is depicted without a glove on one hand but is later shown in the next to be wearing a glove on that hand.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As
Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic Adventures: Crash and Burn between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
