"Now put your hands up, budzos."
"Never!!"
―Crash Ongwa and the Nihil[2]

A human pirate served within the Nihil marauder organization and worked onboard a hauler that delivered crystals to the starship Gaze Electric during the High Republic Era. In 228 BBY, the pirate panicked along with others in the cockpit of the hauler after a ship was located in the hyperspace exit path of the hauler. Once the crisis was averted, the crew celebrated on the deck only to be cut short by the humans Alys "Crash" Ongwa and Krix Kamerat, who entered the hauler from their ship. As the two forced the cabin to surrender, the pirate intervened and attempted to eliminate the two with a blaster shot, only to be shot down by Kamerat.

During the High Republic Era, a human was a part of the Nihil marauder organization and worked in a hauler in Nihil space alongside a crew of pirates who mainly transported crystals to the starship Gaze Electric to power the Stormwall,[2] a hyperspace barrier created by the Nihil.[3] In 228 BBY,[1] the pirate became alarmed once a Pau'an crew member reported an object dead ahead in the hyperspace exit path of the hauler, which brought panic amongst the crew. The crew proceeded to rush to resolve the problem and managed to successfully avoid the impact with the object, which was another ship.[2]

Knowing the collision did not take place, the cockpit full of marauders celebrated in surviving the events, only to be interrupted by the human occupants of the other ship, the anti-Nihil freedom fighter Alys "Crash" Ongwa and former Nihil Krix Kamerat, who held them all at blaster point. As Ongwa ordered for the marauders to surrender, the pirate retaliated and refused to obey Ongwa's demands. In such an act of defiance, the pirate jumped and fired a shot at the intruders that missed, only for Kamerat to return a blaster bolt that struck the pirate in the chest. As the pirate laid dead on the floor, Ongwa questioned if any other Nihil on the flight deck desired to be heroic, which brought no objections in response. Ongwa later assumed command of the hauler and delivered the cargo it stored to deprived people on the planet Eriadu.[2]

Personality and traits

Like the rest of the crew, the pirate was scared when a ship was present in the hauler's exit path. However, when confronted by the invaders from the other ship, the pirate was bold and fought back against their requests, only to be killed in the process. They had beige skin, white eyes, and brown hair.[2]

Equipment

The pirate was equipped with a flight suit and brown pants, along with a belt that included a holster that carried a blaster. The pirate also wore gray knee and elbow pads, with one elbow pad being fitted with a single spike, and bluish boots. The pirate had spiked gray pauldrons and a gray helmet that was imprinted with the Eye of the Nihil insignia.[2]

Behind the scenes

The human Nihil appeared in the one-shot comic The High Republic Adventures: Crash and Burn. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Nick Brokenshire, and published by Dark Horse Comics as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase III[2] on September 4, 2024.[4]
