The Tyus sector was a Mid Rim sector containing the Nuralee, Sabanash, and Zelos systems, as well as the Tyus Cluster and the Pyrlix Miasma. In 228 BBY, a strike in the Ossiathora system prevented the production of a specialized alcohol needed for deglazing engines stuck in the Pyrlix Miasma. In 1 ABY, Rebel Alliance leaders Mon Mothma and Leia Organa considered Sabanash—a celestial body in the sector—for a potential rebel base location.

Description

The Tyus sector was a space sector located in the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Trailing Sectors[2] that contained the Pyrlix Miasma[3] and the Tyus Cluster. The Nuralee, Sabanash, and Zelos systems were also situated in the Tyus sector, with all three systems placed in grid square N-16 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] The Sabanash system[4] contained the location Sabanash, which featured wetlands.[5]

Locations

During the High Republic Era, the sector fell within Galactic Republic space.[3] In 228 BBY,[6] Republic Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh received reports about a system-wide strike in the Ossiathora system preventing the harvest of a grain necessary to produce the specialized alcohol that was in turn needed for deglazing engines stuck in the Pyrlix Miasma and pondered about the disruption's potential effects. Her reports also included a list of potential responses to the issue, though her attention was diverted to a different issue before she could investigate further.[3] In 1 ABY,[7] Princess Leia Organa and Chancellor Mon Mothma of the Rebel Alliance considered Sabanash as a potential rebel base location, though the latter deemed it too unstable.[5]

Behind the scenes

The Tyus sector was introduced in the current canon in The High Republic: Temptation of the Force.

The Tyus sector was introduced in the current canon in The High Republic: Temptation of the Force.

In the current Star Wars canon, the Tyus sector was first mentioned in the 2024 novel Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[3] Phase III.[8]

The Tyus sector was first introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. The Online Companion placed the Zelos system[9]—and therefore the planet Zelos II[10]—in the sector.[9] Zelos II was first introduced and illustrated in the 1992 roleplaying sourcebook Planets of the Galaxy, Volume Two, which was written by John Terra and released by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, thus retroactively marking the Tyus sector's first visual depiction.[10]

The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, it must be set in 228 BBY.

SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 203 states that the planet Crait was considered as a potential rebel base, an event depicted in The Last Jedi – The Storms of Crait 1, one year after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. As Star Wars: Timelines states that A New Hope ends in 0 ABY, the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi – The Storms of Crait 1 must have occurred in 1 ABY.
