Topaz was a blue material that could be used to encrust comm earpieces.[1] In 228 BBY,[2] the Nihil Minister of Information Ghirra Starros used her blue-topaz-encrusted earpiece to accept a comm message from the Nihil's leader, Marchion Ro, while in a café on the planet Coruscant.[1]
During the ritualistic Crowning Convocation event on the planet Siline[3] in 134 BBY,[4] Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon wore topaz-colored face paint to match the rich gold topaz shade of her skin markings. Later during the event, Lon and another participant, the human Lionine Graf, entered a cavern with quartz spears bearing a pale blue topaz color. Several Silinese on the world at the time had topaz-colored skin, with at least one having pale blue topaz teeth.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, topaz first appeared in the 2024 novel Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[5] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, topaz was first introduced in Alan Dean Foster's 1976 novelization of[6] the 1977 original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.[7] The gemstone later made its first full appearance in the 1995 novel Children of the Jedi by Barbara Hambly.[8] In the real world, topaz is a type of gemstone that can come in many colors.[9]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 The High Republic: Temptation of the Force
- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, it must be set in 228 BBY.
- ↑ 3.0 3.1 The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown
- ↑ The events of The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown take place in 134 BBY per the following reasoning. The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown establishes that Jecki Lon is the Padawan of Sol and Yord Fandar has yet to undertake his Jedi Trials. The novel also states that Lon has been Sol's Padawan for at least two years, as well as that Sol had not taken a Padawan for years after his former Padawan, Verosha Aniseya, left the Jedi Order. From this, at least four years have passed since Aniseya left the Order. "Lost / Found"—the events of which take place in 132 BBY per the reasoning here—establishes Aniseya left the Order six years before its events, equating to 138 BBY. The episode further states Fandar passed his Jedi Trials two years before its events, meaning he must have passed his Trials in 134 BBY.
