- "Ghirra, my Ghirra. Are you on Coruscant?"
"I am, my lord. I hardly recognize your voice after all this time. One presumes you are well?" - ―Marchion Ro and Ghirra Starros, while the latter was in the café
A café operating on the planet Coruscant during the High Republic Era featured hovering tables, floating planters with flowers, and cold-matrix hearths for decor. In 228 BBY, the Nihil Minister of Information Ghirra Starros visited the establishment and drank a glass of cream tea, eventually departing the café after receiving a comm from the Nihil's leader, Marchion Ro, requiring her to pass on his message.
Description
A café was located in one of the central parts of[1] the Core Worlds[2] planet Coruscant, considered one of the busier establishments on the world during the High Republic Era. The establishment featured an opalescent courtyard with several floating planters, at least two of which had pink wave zinnia plants and vibrant-orange gladiolix blossoms. The café's tables floated slightly, allowing patrons to use silkensteen pillows to rest on their knees, while its decorative cold-matrix hearths created flames and gentle breezes.[1]
History
- "I'll be in the stars above Coruscant by tomorrow."
"What sort of message are you bringing, Marchion?"
"Oh, tell them it's a message even the chancellor herself will approve of." - ―Marchion Ro and Ghirra Starros, while the latter was in the café
While on Coruscant, Ghirra Starros visited the café.
In 228 BBY,[3] the Nihil Minister of Information Ghirra Starros visited the establishment, sitting at a hovering table and sipping a crystal glass of cold cream tea. Though she was seated alone, several of Starros's bodyguards and attendants, including the Kexing Jayd, remained nearby in case of an attempted assassination.[1]
The Minister of Information reflected on the nearby reporters, hoping to present the Nihil well to them, while also briefly thinking of the doings of several other Nihil. Starros then accepted a comm message from the Nihil's leader, Marchion Ro, despite her annoyance at being contacted in a public venue. Ro informed her that he would be arriving on Coruscant the following day, providing minimal details other than his expectation that the Galactic Republic would welcome his news. Starros motioned for Jayd to collect her, leaving the café to disseminate his message.[1]
Behind the scenes
The café appeared in the 2024 novel Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[4]
