A throneworld,[17] alternatively spelled as throne world[24] or throne-world,[13] was a world that served as the seat of power for a monarchist government.[1]

After the Declaration of a New Order in 19 BBY, the planet Coruscant became the Imperial throneworld and its name was officially changed to "Imperial Center."[1]

During the Imperial Period, the Deep Core planet Byss served as an auxiliary throneworld for Emperor Palpatine in the event that Coruscant was lost.[14]
