The Tellonites were a group[3] originating from the Tellon system[1] in the Sombure sector of the Mid Rim Territories.[2] The group was represented in the Galactic Republic's Senate during the Republic Era.[3] In 32 BBY,[4] the Sith Lord Darth Sidious—while publicly operating as Senator Palpatine of the Mid Rim planet Naboo—oversaw the proposal of a taxation bill in the Senate, intending for it to fail in order to learn from the Tellonites' reaction. After the bill's failure, Sidious reflected on his plan's success, including his thoughts on the Tellonites, while speaking to the Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray.[3]

Behind the scenes

The Tellonites were mentioned in Queen's Peril, a 2020 young-adult novel by E. K. Johnston as the second installment of Star Wars: Queen's Series.[3]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Tellonite in relation to Tellon system.
