- "I hate the idea of making a whole moon a prison."
- ―Aro N'cookaala
Substation Grimdock,[4] also known simply as Grimdock,[5] was a moon inhabited by bastaks, a species of crustaceans.[4] It was located in the Grimdock system in the Axion sector of the Expansion Region,[1] along the[5] Ootmian Pabol hyperspace route.[3] It had been acquired by the Galactic Empire, who, under the leadership of Sergeant Magernon, converted it into a prison that covered its entire surface. Once the prison had been filled up, the Empire excavated the moon in order to expand the prison further. The digging was called off when the workers encountered a nest of bastaks, who massacred them. After the Battle of Endor, Substation Grimdock fell under jurisdiction of the New Republic. After the Battle of Jakku, Magernon was allowed to continue running the prison. He freed all the prisoners who had been friendly towards the Empire, who contacted pirates to pick them up. The New Republic brought in their fleet to blockade the pirate vessels from leaving, causing a standoff.[4]

(In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
