Bastak

Bastaks were a species of non-sentient, carnivorous crustaceans that inhabited the lower levels of the prison moon Substation Grimdock. They had a hypnotic call, which only took effect with eye contact. The call would put those who heard it into a mesmerized trance, unable to move. Their chitinous outer layer prevented blasters from harming them, but thermal detonators would disorient them.^[1]
