Sentuvian cheese was a type of cheese[3] that originated from[1] the Inner Rim Sentuvia system.[2] In 228 BBY,[4] the human Jedi Master Avar Kriss crossed into the Occlusion Zone, an area of space controlled by the Nihil marauders, while onboard the Republic Defense Coalition transport Blue Range. After the ship exited hyperspace, she saw dozens of Nihil scav droids. Kriss tried to avoid remembering the sounds scav droids made and thought about how they could tear into a ship's hull like it was made of Sentuvian cheese.[3]

Behind the scenes

Sentuvian cheese was mentioned in the 2024 novel The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[3] Phase III.[5]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Sentuvian cheese in relation to Sentuvia system.

  4. Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, it must be set in 228 BBY.
