Scrap crabs were a non-sentient species of crustacean that lived on the junk-planet Trionak. The crabs had massive claws and magnetic shells capable of collecting scrap metal for protection. The local rulers, the Tech Masters, implanted some scrap crabs with cybernetics in order to domesticate them. In being a crustaceous species that donned scrap metal as protection, they were similar^[1] to the trash crabs of the planet Lanupa.^[2]

Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa encountered scrap crabs while on an unsanctioned mission to Trionak.^[1]

Scrap crabs first appeared in the 2018 junior novel Choose Your Destiny: A Luke & Leia Adventure, which was written by Cavan Scott and illustrated by Elsa Charretier.^[1]
