Salamanders were a type of amphibian that could be found in the galaxy. The frilled newt was a type of salamander that could be found in the planet Koboh. They frequented the planet's rock pools and waters of the Dredger Gorge region to cool down, and were too evasive to pin down in the water.[1] The mucous salamander was a type of salamander native to the[3] moon[4] Yavin 4.[3] Salamanders could also be found on the planet Thule.[2] The mouths of the Whippomorn species were as wide as that of a salamander.[5]
Behind the scenes
Salamanders were first mentioned in "Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing," a short story written by Rae Carson and published in the 2017 anthology book Canto Bight.[5] They first appeared in the 2023 video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, developed by Respawn Entertainment.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, salamanders first appeared in the 1995 novel Children of the Jedi, written by Barbara Hambly.[6]
