- "The Empire is in disarray. That's obvious by the sheer number of splinter factions—we aren't fighting one enemy, but several dozen. Some are isolated by happenstance: Moff Royen's fleet is cut off from support near the Red Hand Cluster."
- ―Caern Adan, to Hera Syndulla and Alphabet Squadron
The Red Hand Cluster was located in the Trax sector within an intersecting portion of the Mid Rim Territories[1] and the Slice regions.[2] Situated at the coordinates Q-10 on the Standard Galactic Grid,[1] it was near where a fleet commanded by Moff Royen of the Galactic Empire became cut off from support in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor[3] in 4 ABY.[4] Around that time, Caern Adan, an agent in the New Republic's Intelligence branch, mentioned the situation of Royen's fleet near the cluster during an address to General Hera Syndulla and the New Republic's Alphabet Squadron.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Red Hand Cluster was mentioned in the 2019 novel Alphabet Squadron, the initial installment of Alexander Freed's Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy.[3]
