Protein squares were a type of ration food made from kelp and salt worms.[1] In 382 BBY,[2] the squares were included in relief bundles given to hungry Eirami citizens at the gates of the Outer Rim planet Eiram's palace by royal guards. The Eirami Prince Phan-tu Zenn told the E'roni Princess Xiri A'lbaran what the packages contained, including the squares, as they watched the distribution from a palace balcony. As she gazed upon the scene, A'lbaran felt that the protein squares would taste disgusting, wanting to raise her nose in the air and grimace.[1]
Behind the scenes
Protein squares appeared in Convergence, a 2022 novel written by Zoraida Córdova as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II.[1]
