Particle accelerators were devices used in energy based weapons such as blasters.[1] Proton rifles used baradium-fed particle accelerators to create densely charged particle beams.[2]
In 3 ABY,[3] the scoundrel Kay Vess used various particle accelerators to upgrade her VM-19 heavy blaster pistol's plasma module. These included a BT-P7 ion accelerator, a prototype gas acceleration converter and prototype particle stability converter.[1]
Behind the scenes
Particle accelerators were first mentioned in the canon continuity in the 2018 sourcebook Knights of Fate for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game by Fantasy Flight Games.[2] Three types of particle accelerators appeared as upgrade items in the 2024 video game, Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.[1]
Particle accelerators were originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in Planet of the Mists an adventure supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published by West End Games.[4]
