Oshira was a planet[1] located in the Oshira system, within the Vilonis sector[3] of the Mid Rim[1] and the Trailing Sectors regions,[2] in grid square O-16 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[4] It shared its name with Oshiran sapphires,[5] which originated from the same star system.[6] In 34 ABY,[7] historian and author Eloc Throno included a map depicting the location of Oshira in his book Traveler's Guide to Batuu, which detailed the planet Batuu.[1]
Behind the scenes
Oshira was mentioned in the 2020 reference book Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: Traveler's Guide to Batuu, written by Cole Horton.[1]

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 According to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: Traveler's Guide to Batuu, Oshira lies close to an imaginary line connecting Naboo and Hosnian Prime and is closer to the former than the latter. Star Wars: The Galactic Explorer's Guide establishes that such a line passes through the boundary of the Trailing Sectors, which contain Naboo, and the Interior, in which Hosnian Prime is located. Since that boundary lies closer to Hosnian Prime than Naboo, Oshira must therefore be situated in the Trailing Sectors.

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Oshiran sapphire in relation to Oshira system.
- ↑ Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: Traveler's Guide to Batuu establishes that at the time of the book's setting the Resistance was based on Batuu. Star Wars: Timelines dates both the establishment of the Batuu Resistance base and its eventual relocation to Ajan Kloss to 34 ABY. Therefore, the in-universe guide must have been authored that year.
