Novian ore was a type of ore that could be smelted to forge saw blades. The ore could found on the swamp planet Safrifa.[1]
While on Safrifa[1] in 231 BBY,[2] the mercenary Ty Yorrick accepted a payment of novian ore from a marsh-lord on the world after rescuing their son from a rival clan. Afterward, Yorrick planned to have the ore melted down into saw blades by an armorer on[1] the Mid Rim shadowport[3] Keldooine. However, she ultimately accepted another job on Safrifa after two Safrifan farmers offered her more novian ore in exchange for the Yorrick's monster-hunting services.[1]
Behind the scenes
Novian ore appeared in the novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott[1] for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I and published on June 29, 2021.[4] Prior to its release, a mention of the ore was included in a StarWars.com preview for the novel on April 22 of that year.[5]
