The moon of Saltear was a terrestrial moon that was the site of a settlement. After the formation of the Nihil marauder organization's Occlusion Zone in the Outer Rim[4] in 230 BBY,[5] the moon was located at the edge of Nihil territory. The Jedi Knights Bell Zettifar and Burryaga Agaburry fought side by side together to protect the settlement from Nihil forces led by Captain Melis Shryke.[4] In 229 BBY,[6] Zettifar recalled the fighting on the moon—mentally noting it was their first encounter with Shryke—while aboard the Pacifier-class Republic ship Tractate as it traveled through hyperspace.[4]

The moon of Saltear was mentioned in The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness, a 2023 novel written by George Mann as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[4] Phase III.[7]
