Maliq was a male Jedi Padawan apprenticed to Jedi Master Rok Buran during the High Republic Era.[2] In 382 BBY,[1] Maliq was part of Outer Rim Expedition Two-Five-Two, Buran's Republic Pathfinder team. The team traveled to the planet Gloam to investigate reports of monsters on the planet which had ended mining operations. Along with the rest of the group, Maliq was lured into a trap by the treacherous former miner Rillik, who had released the monsters from where they had been sealed away long before. Maliq was the first member of the team to be killed by the beasts, with only Buran surviving to escape the scene. Later, when Master Silandra Sho's Pathfinder team ventured to Gloam in search of the missing Pathfinders, her Padawan, Rooper Nitani, found Maliq's lightsaber and gave it to Buran.[2]
