- "Lechra has a privately owned Tibanna [sic] gas refinery, and there have been a lot of Aurore-class freighters from the Mining Guild coming out of the Lixal sector."
- ―Mon Mothma
Lechra was a world[2] located in the Lechra system within the Inner Rim's Lixal sector. It was situated in grid square M-14 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] During the Imperial Era, Lechra hosted a privately owned tibanna gas refinery and was led by a viceroy who Princess Leia Organa established a connection with during a visit to the world[2] by 4 ABY.[3]
That year,[3] Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma referenced Lechra and its refinery while discussing with Organa about the latter reaching out to worlds with energy-rich materials to persuade them to side with the forming New Republic. The princess then requested that Rebel Intelligence major Nioma send her data on the world. From the data, Organa learned that Lechra had either remained independent or at minimum had been forced into a financial agreement with the Galactic Empire. Afterward, she sent a holomessage to the viceroy to persuade them to side with the Republic, reasonably confident she could due to her previously established connection.[2]
Behind the scenes
Lechra was mentioned in The Princess and the Scoundrel, a 2022 novel written by Beth Revis.[2]
