"I see you still have my blaster. You know, that power pack is aftermarket. It overheats easy."
"I fixed that years ago."
―Riko Vess to Kay Vess[1]

Kay's blaster was a VM-19 heavy blaster pistol owned by the slicer Riko Vess who later gave it to her daughter Kay Vess. It was highly customizable and capable of switching blaster modules during combat.

Description

"Your VM-19 is crude but highly customizable."
"It's not crude, it's vintage.
"
―ND-5 and Kay Vess[1]

Kay's blaster was a highly customizable VM-19 heavy blaster pistol with a stun setting and capable of switching out blaster modules allowing it to change between firing plasma bolts, ion bolts or a powerful explosive bolt. It had a wooden grip and an attached scope.[1]

History

The blaster came had came into the possession of the slicer Riko Vess[1] by 7 BBY.[2] During which Riko was raising her daughter in the South Stretch Worker's District of the city Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica.[1] At one point during that year, [2] Kay woke up to learn that Riko had left her with the blaster, a casino chip and a hologram message in which Riko told Kay that she was leaving. Kay kept the blaster with her as she grew up and eventually replaced the aftermarket power pack which caused it to over heat to easily.[1]

In 3 ABY,[3] Kay recieved an ion casing and stole ion energy converters from a crime syndicate on the Outer Rim moon Toshara and used it to construct an burst ion module for her blaster. She later used it to break into and steal a tracking fob from a Hutt Cartel storehouse on Toshara for the Mon Calamari information broker Danka Orsato.[1] That same year, while organizing for a heist on the Zerek Besh vault in the Westhill Palace on Cantonica, Kay was given a power capacitor from the BX-series droid commando ND-5 which she later used to construct a bolt power module for her blaster.
