An ion casing was a blaster component that confined ionized particles. It could be used along with an ion energy converter to install an ion module in a VM-19 heavy blaster pistol.[1]
During 3 ABY,[2] the contract broker Danka Orsato gave a job to scoundrel Kay Vess which required an ion blaster. Rather that buying a new blaster, Vess stated that she could modify her VM-19 heavy blaster pistol and Orsato sent her to pick up an ion casing from their contact Belo Roovin's pawn shop.[1]
Behind the scenes
Ion casings appeared in the 2024 video game, Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. The ion casing is an item obtained as part of the main quest "New Trick."[1]
