"Looks like you're headed to the ocean dunes of Karnac."
―Greef Karga, to Din Djarin[3]

Karnac was a terrestrial[3] celestial body[4] located in the Karnac system of the Cadma sector, a part of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice[2] in grid square T-8 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Its surface featured ocean dunes.[3]

By 9 ABY,[5] a nobleman's Mon Calamari son skipped bail and went into hiding on the ocean dunes of Karnac, with a bounty being posted on them. That year, the bounty hunter Din Djarin accepted a bounty holopuck for the nobleman's son from Greef Karga,[3] the Guild Master[6] of the Bounty Hunters Guild of[7] the Dalicron sector planet[8] Nevarro,[7] who noted that Djarin would be heading to Karnac. Djarin, however, ultimately chose to instead attempt to rescue the youngling Grogu, whom he had previously turned in to an Imperial faction in exchange for a bounty.[3]

Behind the scenes

Karnac was introduced via a mention of the "ocean dunes of Karnac" in "Chapter 3: The Sin,"[3] the third episode of the Disney+ television show Star Wars: The Mandalorian's first season. The episode aired on November 22, 2019.[9] The 2023 reference book Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo and Emily Shkoukani subsequently identified Karnac as a distinct celestial body. That book also placed Karnac in what corresponds to[4] the "U" column of the Standard Galactic Grid,[10] but the 2025 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations, New Edition went on to explicitly place it in grid square T-8 instead.[11]
