The KPR security droid, also called the KPR servant droid, was a simple droid built by Lerrimore Droids.
Design
KPR security droids were manufactured by Lerrimore Droids. They were small droids with a square treaded base. The droid's body was topped by a dome that was either colored white[1] or green.[2]
Role
KPR units were used as security droids, as well as to perform simple maintenance and diagnostic functions[1] in security devices.[2] KPRs were often used on remote installations, such as moisture farms, where they were tasked with activating alarm sensors, security lighting, and power fences.[1]
History
During the Galactic Civil War, several KPR units were active on the on the planet Tatooine[3] and they were also used at Imperial outposts.[2] Owen Lars owned 2X-3KPR, a KPR droid that was responsible for activating the alarm sensors, security lighting, and power fences on his moisture farm.[4] Two KPRs were aboard the sandcrawler which captured C-3PO and R2-D2.[3] One was 2X-7KPR, a droid that had been stolen from Jabba the Hutt,[2] and the other was 6Y-2KPR.[5]
