"You said you didn't want to know any details. Have you changed your mind?"
"I don't want to know. And yet intelligence reaches me and I'm obliged to become involved. Who?"
"The admiral in command of that sector. The attack was part of the deal we made with Zerpen, and also a means of safeguarding anything Galen Erso may have revealed to Vallt's Separatist regime regarding the disposition of Republic warships in that sector."
"Erso wasn't in possession of any intelligence to that effect."
"Just to be sure, then."

The Juris sector was a sector in Outer Rim Territories of the the galaxy.

Description

The Juris sector was a sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories. It contained the Vallt system, the Qeimet system, and the Pastoria system among others.[2]

History

During the Clone Wars, Orson Krennic turned himself into the Erso family's savior by appearing on Vallt.

During the Clone Wars, Orson Krennic turned himself into the Erso family's savior by appearing on Vallt.

During the Clone Wars between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and Galactic Republic, the sector largely fell within the Galactic Republic and was placed under the command of a admiral within the Republic Navy. Republic warships made use of the sector and were stationed throughout. The neutral Zerpen Industries also made use of the planet Vallt for a research initiative under the genius scientist Galen Walton Erso. However, Vallt would go onto secede to the Confederacy in a Separatist-supported coup, with Erso realizing the Separatists came because of him. Afterward, the Republic admiral was approached by Lieutenant Commander Orson Callan Krennic, an old friend of Erso's who outlined an attack plan to retake Vallt. Concerned Erso had revealed info about warship positions, although in truth Erso knew nothing of the sort, the admiral approved. The Republic also cut a deal with Zerpen concerning Vallt. The rescue mission ended with the Erso family rescued and Vallt falling to Republic control, with the Republic going onto see it as a useful beachhead into Separatist space. Krennic's aim was to recruit Erso into a secret Republic weapons project, but the scientist's pacifism interfered with Krennic's plans.[3]

In 3 ABY,[4] the Galactic Empire's Death Squadron was stationed in the sector near Qeimet when it received word of a Rebel Alliance base on the planet Hoth from a probe droid.[5]

Behind the scenes

The sector first appeared in the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[6] It was first canonically identified as the Juris sector in the 2021 book The Odyssey of Star Wars: An Epic Poem.[5] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Juris sector was first identified in the 1994 sourcebook Galaxy Guide 10: Bounty Hunters.[7]
