- "See, those are Hutt clone troopers with supercharged carbines. You'll get one save outta me as a human shield—tops."
- ―Chelli Aphra, to Hera Syndulla
Hutt clone troopers were cloned Hutt soldiers that were created under the Galactic Empire's Tarkin Initiative. Although they were rejected for wide-scale use, they were frozen in an archive aboard Hivebase-1, a secret Tarkin Initiative facility. During a base infiltration by mercenaries, the base's frozen rejected projects were unfrozen to stop the infiltrators. Two Hutt clone troopers then accompanied the Imperial Commander Yewl and his guard of death troopers to stop the mercenary crew. The group was unable to stop the infiltrators, who stole Hivebase-1's datacore before destroying the facility.
Description

- ―Hera Syndulla, to Chelli Aphra

History
- "—that's a nanoslime catapult and those are Hutt clone troopers and ohhh I think that's a Rathtar melded into an interrogation droid I am in love…"
- ―Chelli Aphra discovers frozen Hutt clone troopers
Hutt clone troopers were created by the Tarkin Initiative,[1] a organization within the Galactic Empire's Imperial Military Department of Advanced Weapons Research,[3] during the Empire's reign. The project was ultimately rejected for wide-scale use for cost reasons, but being too successful to scrap entirely, Hutt clone troopers were kept frozen in the archives of Hivebase-1, a classified Tarkin Initiative facility.[1] Around 3 ABY,[4] Hivebase-1 was infiltrated by a crew of mercenaries[1] working for the Son-tuul Pride syndicate,[5] bringing the captive Rebel Alliance General Hera Syndulla with them as part of their plan to get onboard. The crew came across the archives containing Hutt clone troopers as well as other frozen rejected projects.[1]
The Hutt clone troopers fire on the infiltrators in Hivebase-1.
After Hivebase-1's base control learned of the infiltration, the projects were all defrosted and attacked the mercenaries. Some of the mercenaries made it to the datacore, with Syndulla still with them. As the leader of the crew, Chelli Aphra, attempted to search the databanks for what she needed. Commander Yewl, the commanding officer of Hivebase-1, confronted the infiltrators with two Hutt clone troopers and a guard of death troopers. Yewl ordered the capture of Syndulla and for the mercenaries to be killed,[1] leading to a gunfight between his forces and the infiltrators.[2]
However, while two of her fellow infiltrators covered her, Aphra used the datacore's terminal and an AJ^3 cyborg construct to orchestrate the theft of the entire datacore using the tractor beam of a rebel starship which had come to rescue Syndulla. Yewl, his guard and the Hutt clone troopers were sealed from the datacore, during the process, and so the commander ordered his troops back to base control. Not long after, though, Hivebase-1 was destroyed when Aphra's modified explosive Tookas were set loose inside the base and detonated, destroying the facility.[2]
