A male individual[1] was the flesh-and-blood[2] father of the Kaleesh[1] male[3] Qymaen jai Sheelal,[1] later known as Grievous,[4] born into a family[2] on the Wild Space[5] planet Kalee, an inhabitant[6] of the reptilian[7] Kaleesh species.[6]

The Kaleesh and the Yam'rii,[1] their planetary neighbor,[8] an insectoid species[9] of the desolate planet[10] Huk,[11] were engaged in an almost continual war. The father taught Sheelal how to handle[1] a slugthrower,[12] the Czerka Arms Outland rifle, and by the time he was eight years old,[1] he served as a sniper,[12] having already killed forty enemies. As matured, Sheelal was regarded as a legendary figure by the Kaleesh.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, Grievous's father was indirectly mentioned in the 2017 reference book Star Wars Made Easy, written by Christian Blauvelt,[2] and later mentioned in The Separatists in the Star Wars Encyclopedia booklet series published by Altaya on May 6, 2022.[1]

Grievous's father originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where he was first mentioned in "Unknown Soldier: The Story of General Grievous," an article written by Abel G. Peña and published in the eighty-sixth issue of Star Wars Insider,[13] published on February 13, 2006.[14]
