The Garqi system was a star system in the Tadrin sector within the Cassander sector of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories.[2] It was located in grid square K-5 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and contained the terrestrial astronomical object Garqi.[5] In 33 BBY,[6] there was labor action in the caf plant sector of Garqi that led to a reduction of point-two percent in Garqi's revenue.[5]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, the Garqi system was first mentioned as just "Garqi" on a map of the galaxy included in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a 2016 Star Wars Roleplaying set published by Fantasy Flight Games.[7] It was first identified as the Garqi system in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map article on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[8]

The system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in "Missed Chance," a short story written by Michael A. Stackpole and published in the seventh issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal series by West End Games in August 1995.[9] It was first identified in Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds, a Star Wars Roleplaying Game supplement that Fry worked on that was published by Wizards of the Coast in 2004.[10]

Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
