"And there is another concern on the horizon. There has been a point-two percent reduction in tourism revenue on Garqi."
―Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum[6]

Garqi was a terrestrial[6] astronomical object in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories.[2] Located on the Braxant Run hyperspace route,[4] it was situated at grid square K-5 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Garqi produced caf, with the caf plant sector acting as a supply of tourism in the off season.[6]

In 33 BBY,[7] labor action took place in Garqi's caf plant sector. Tourism revenue on Garqi saw a reduction of point-two percent—more than what was predicted by models—with an economic working group headed by Senator Palpatine of the Galactic Republic theorizing that it was a result of the labor action. Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum and Palpatine presented the issue in a meeting with Jedi Masters Adi Gallia and Yoda. Gallia realized that Valorum was suggesting the Jedi Order send Jedi Knights to assist in the negotiations; the chancellor sarcastically remarked that the alternative of sending them on holiday would not help before moving on to another matter.[6]

Behind the scenes

In the new Star Wars canon, Garqi was first mentioned on a map included in the 2016 Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying boxed set Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game.[1]

Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
