The Garen system was a star system located in the Thuldin's Grant sector of the Expansion Region. It was situated in grid square J-15 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It contained Garen IV, which served as a prison world during the reign of the Galactic Empire[2] and that of the New Republic.[3]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, the Garen system was mentioned in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[4] The system originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, which was written by Fry and Daniel Wallace.[5]
