The Garen system was a star system[2] that contained the planet Garen IV[3] and was located within the Thuldin's Grant sector of the Expansion Region.[1] During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Garen IV housed an Imperial penal colony, although[3] in the year 2 BBY,[4] during the Galactic Civil War, a number of prisoners escaped the colony during a raid by the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[3]

Behind the scenes

The Garen system was first mentioned in The Essential Atlas, a reference book written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace and released in 2009. The book placed it in grid square J-15.[2]
