In my opinion, suicide in the Star Wars universe doesn't have any distinct quality that differs from the term's real-world dictionary definition. But more importantly, these pages—which are essentially glorified lists of details about every instance of suicide in Star Wars—are both out of our scope and, if not covered carefully, have the potential to negatively influence our readers who are struggling with mental health (for further reading: [1] [2]). In short, I think keeping the main [[Death|Suicide]] page as a redirect to Death for navigation purposes and deleting the Legends counterpart would be a better approach going forward.   2. yeah it's really weird to have a list of every time someone committed suicide or considered it, especially if like half of those are just soldiers choosing to stand and fight when they know they'll die, which isn't really suicide per se. Fan26 (Talk) 03:55, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Comments

  • So, a few thoughts on keeping /Legends redirects in general:
    • Some articles have been at their /Legends page name for years now, building up a decent history and Google search authority. Not having a redirect from the previous name might harm that, and is something that can be asked of Fandom's SEO team if that is the case.
    • Interwiki links from other language wikis would potentially become dead links if there is no redirect from the old page name.
    • There might be a lot of links to that page from offsite that will become dead links.
  • In conclusion: keeping the redirects doesn't hurt us, so I don't see the harm in keeping them, at least for a nominal period after the move happens. - Sir Cavalier of OneFarStar(Squadron channel) 12:40, 31 January 2024 (UTC)
