Star Wars streets
Ulica Obi-Wana Kenobiego (talk - history - links - logs)- Star Wars streets in Las Vegas (talk - history - links - logs)
Both of these articles survived trash compactor noms (#1, #2) three years ago. The primary arguments for "Keep" were that they were unique, and that some legal paperwork proved that they were indeed named after Star Wars. Three years later, I'll argue that the info from both of these articles belongs in List of references to Star Wars in miscellanea. External links such as "failblog" and the Las Vegas Weekly don't meet our Notability policy, and the external link to starwars.pl actually redirects to a fan site. These streets may be unique, but under our policies, they're not notable. Menkooroo 02:56, May 23, 2012 (UTC)
- UPDATE: In light of the official recognition for the Polish street posted below by NLoriel, I've edited this to just be about the Vegas streets. Will alert everyone who has already voted. Menkooroo 00:58, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

- In answer to those who wish to keep on the general basis that they passed inspection years ago and thus should not be voted on again, that's not particularly a strong case. A lot of FAs and GAs have had their status removed because they were brought to status before we had high standards. Our standards have changed—mostly towards better and higher standards—since we had those last TCs for this. In answer to Riff, I actually can think of other roads that reference Star Wars. I don't believe that the only place in the whole world where Star Wars is referenced in something like this is with these two places. These just happen to be the only two places that got to have articles on Wookieepedia long ago.—Cal Jedi

- Per Cal. Our notability policy now is not the same as it was when these were last in the TC, and these no longer meet it. —MJ— Holocomm Wednesday, May 23, 2012, 17:59 UTC

All along the watchtower 03:23, May 23, 2012 (UTC) - Why vote for the third time? Is it like with the "Constitution of the European Union" - keep calling new ballots until all opponents get tired and we get the result we want? As for me, all arguments from the previous TCs hold. NLoriel 06:49, May 23, 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry. They're still notable to have survived for this long. I have to ask: wasn't there a time on Wookieepedia when articles like this were free from deletion, and not because they had to meet notability requirements? You show me where else there are roads with unique names that reference the saga, and then these might be less significant in themselves. However these are the only two known instances in the world. I also question exactly where within the references in miscellanea article these would actually go were they in fact merged. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:54, May 23, 2012 (UTC)

- We've got articles about eyes, kidney, and even water, so if they're starwarsy, we definitely shoud keep the discussed articles. If we're talking about the legal sources behind those streets, 'ulica Obi-Wana Kenobiego' has one in the 'Notes and references' section (it's the first link). Personally, I would save them or at least create a separate article for them (named e.g. 'STar Wars streets'). Darth Kasa 15:40, May 23, 2012 (UTC)

- Personally, I find the articles to be interesting. Sure would be nice to live on a Skywalker Avenue. Has more "zing" than "Dew Drop Lane". That, and per the others above... If they were notable once, they're notable the second and third time. Trak Nar Ramble on 02:28, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

Discussion
Regarding notability of Ulica Obi-Wana Kenobiego, plese take a look at the following remarks (names in bold are taken from the policy page):
- 1. Official recognition: There's been a letter to Polish fans with congratulations and official recognition of the street from Stephen J. Sansweet and Mary Franklin on behalf of Lucasfilm (back in 2008, when they still worked there). You can even see it on YT: [1].
- 2. Fan recognition, Content: the street held a number of fan conventions, attracting guests from all over Europe (cf. [www.starforce.eu]), and a couple of Star Wars actors, too. It's not a message board, a MMORPG team etc. It is a real street in a real town, and it's named after a major Star Wars character.
- I don't know about all the LA streets, but the Obi-Wan Kenobi Street in Grabowiec is a part of a larger phenomenon - not just a street, but sort of a symbol for fans here in Poland. Celebration it ain't, but hey, it's much more notable than stuff like Universal Day of the Jedi for instance. NLoriel 23:30, May 23, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the links. I wasn't aware of that youtube video when I started this. That kind of official recognition is good stuff; I think I'll change this to just be about the Vegas streets. Menkooroo 00:56, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
- Well, this is certainly interesting... More roads. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:28, May 24, 2012 (UTC)
