"The law says when you deal with a demon you must expect to get burned. Pay the demon his price. And if he ever enters our presence again -- kill him."
―Foolookoola after the escape[1]

Foolookoola was young Ootoolan princess, she was the only surviving member of her family; they were staunch loyalists who were murdered by thugs of the Revolutionary Purist Council. Her protector, Naradan D'ulin, arranged to have Princess Foolookoola smuggled off the planet Ootoola by Vilmarh Grahrk, who took her to Dur Sabon.

Biography

Salvation from killers

"Why does the princess stare so hard at Villie all the time?"
"She thinks you are a demon."
―Vilmarh and Vilmarh[1]

Around 33 BBY,[2] on the oceanic planet Ootoola, long ruled by a theocratic monarchy, a violent coup took place. The Revolutionary Purist Council overthrew the reigning patriarch and his wife, declaring them impure. In their place, they installed a supposedly "purer" patriarch of their own choosing. The only surviving member of the Ootoolan royal family was the young Princess Foolookoola, who was rescued by loyalists — among them her uncles and her guardian, the Mistryl Shadow Guard, Naradan D'ulin.[1]

With the Galactic Republic ignoring the regime change on a distant Outer Rim world, and the new authorities forbidding the Jedi Order from intervening, the loyalists were left to act on their own. They hired the smuggler Vilmarh Grahrk, tasking him with transporting the princess to nearby planet Dur Sabon. As Grahrk was likely their last hope, Naradan D'ulin, committed to protecting Foolookoola, agreed to cooperate.[1]

During the journey to the ship, Foolookoola kept staring at Grahrk, struck by his resemblance to mythical demons. The Devaronian responded with a sarcastic smile. But before they could reach the ship, a group of coup conspirators — secretly in league with Grahrk — sprang from hiding. Amid Naradan’s angry protests, the guards arrested her and the princess, locking them in a dungeon and scheduling their execution for dawn. Grahrk, meanwhile, celebrated with the soldiers, having just been honored with the title “Hero of the Pure Patriarch.”[1]

All through the night, Naradan comforted Foolookoola, vowing to find a way to escape and take revenge. Suddenly, blaster fire echoed outside the cell. At first, Naradan hoped it was the princess’s uncles coming to their rescue — until the door exploded open, revealing Vilmar Grahrk himself. Furious, Naradan attacked him, ready to kill. But the smuggler quickly explained: the capture had been a distraction. With the guards now relaxed and off high alert, this was their chance to escape. Though still suspicious, D'ulin took up a blaster, grabbed Foolookoola’s hand, and followed him.[1]

Their escape wasn’t smooth. They ran into two guards on the way, and an overconfident Vilmar opened fire, killing them — and attracting unwanted attention. Now hunted again, Naradan and Foolookoola had no choice but to flee to Grahrk's ship as quickly as possible. Once aboard, Grahrk devised a diversion: he aimed the ship’s cannons at the Central Palace — a sacred symbol for the purists — and blew it up. The flames engulfed the shrine, throwing the enemy forces into disarray. Amid the chaos, the ship with the princess escaped Ootoola at last.[1]

In a safe place

"Greetings, Princess Foolookoola, it is our wish that you stay with us as long as you feel comfortable, although it is our hope you may return in safety to your own world soon."

On Dur Sabon, Foolookoola was warmly welcomed by friends of her family. They offered her indefinite refuge and expressed hope for the princess’s eventual return to her homeland. Shortly thereafter, Vilmarh Grahrk brought up the matter of payment, which angered Naradan, who believed he deserved nothing from them. For a moment silent, Foolookoola intervened to remind them of the legality of the deal. The princess insisted that Grahrk be paid double for his services – but on one condition: if he ever approached them again, he would be killed. The Devaronian assured them that such a thing would never happen, and that if it ever did, he would rather shoot himself first.[1]

Over the following years, the thrilling tale of Grahrk’s daring mission and the princess’s rescue was retold in cantinas across the Outer Rim Territories among various spacers.[3]
