- "Put up your hands and surrender in the name of the Revolutionary Purist Council!"
- ―The trooper of the Revolutionary Purist Council, to fugitives
The Revolutionary Purist Council was the government that took over Ootoola in around 33 BBY. The Council executed the reigning royal family for not being «pure» enough and installed their own patriarch. However, the Council failed to capture the crown princess, who managed to flee the planet.
History
- "Take them to the dungeon. They will be executed tomorrow morning when all can watch!"
- ―The trooper says what the Council plans to do with the princess
Around 33 BBY, prior to the Battle of Naboo,[2] a group of local inhabitants of the planet Ootoola grew disillusioned with the ruling patriarch,[1] who, according to tradition, was supposed to be infallible in upholding the laws.[3] The dissenters formed the Purist Council and orchestrated a coup d'état, during which the reigning patriarch and his wife were executed by planted thugs.[4] The rebels then appointed a new patriarch whom they considered to be more «pure». The only surviving member of the former royal family, princess Foolookoola, was cast into exile. Shortly after, the new government forbade the Jedi Order from intervening in the planet’s affairs.[1]
Grahrk «betrays» his employers
While tracking down the hiding heiress, the Council discovered a secret plan for the princess’s escape from Ootoola. To prevent it, they approached the key figure in the operation — the smuggler Vilmarh Grahrk. The payment he was offered exceeded the sum promised by the loyalists of the late patriarch, and Grahrk agreed to collaborate with the Council. During the mission, the smuggler lured Foolookoola and her Mistryl guardian Naradan D'ulin into a trap, where they were immediately captured. The revolutionaries imprisoned both in the dungeon and scheduled their execution for the following morning, when everyone could watch. Grahrk was honored with the title «Hero of the Pure Patriarch».[1]
The victory of the Ootoolan purists seemed assured — until Vilmarh Grahrk, who had been playing a long game, disrupted their plans. He freed the prisoners and planned to lead them to his starship once the guards' alertness had waned. Along the way, Grahrk shot two coupists, thereby revealing his true intentions and drawing too much attention. Upon reaching his ship, Vilmarh devised a distraction: he targeted and blew up the Central Palace. The flaming Ootoolan sanctuary threw the purists into disarray and allowed the princess to vanish beyond the planet’s reach.[1]
Beneath the ruins of the destroyed palace — which had been designated as the new government’s main seat — lay leaders of the coup. The incident deeply shook Ootoola’s fledgling leadership and potentially threatened the very existence of the Purist Council.[1]
