The Hoojib Menace

"The Hoojib Menace" is a comic story that was published as the lead story of Star Wars Adventures Annual 2021. The story was written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Arianna Florean and Ronda Pattison, and published by IDW Publishing on November 24, 2021.

Plot summary

The story follows Han Solo and Chewbacca, who are desperate to earn Jabba the Hutt's favor. They bring the crime lord a special gift: a small, fluffy Hoojib named Plif from the planet Arbra. The Hoojib, which is assumed to be an exotic animal, is actually a sentient being with telepathic abilities.

The Hoojib species is being exploited by a criminal named Bralem Mopak. Mopak captures Hoojibs, sells them as pets, and then forces them to spy on his rivals. Plif, who is now being used to spy on Jabba, discovers a deal the Hutt is trying to make. He secretly informs Mopak, causing the deal to fall through and Han and Chewbacca to take the blame.

Plif eventually reveals the truth to Han and Chewbacca. The pair then returns to Arbra to help the Hoojibs fight back against Mopak. Han allows himself to be captured as a distraction, prompting Plif to rally the other Hoojibs to rise up. The Hoojibs defeat Mopak and free their captured kin. Jabba later imprisons Mopak for his deception.
