Plot summary

Jedi Master Yoda is on the Outer Rim planet Turrak. His friend, a young Scalvi named Bree Menaren is trying to teach him to play the taratti, when looking into the skies the Death Star appears. Realizing things are not correct, Yoda draws his lightsaber only to find a young Padawan Anakin Skywalker floating above. From. Behind him is a grizzly apparition of Qui-Gon Jinn who begins to fight the small Jedi. After a moment, the Death Star fires, waking Yoda from his dream.

In his hut on Dagobah, the Force spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi begins his pestering for the smaller Jedi to hear out his request. Unmoved, Yoda storms out of his hut in search of herbs for his soup. As Yoda wanders the swamp, the ghost reminisces, leading to Yoda getting lost and finding himself at the Cave of Evil. Yoda does not want to enter, feeling it would prove nothing to confront the Dark side of the Force. But, Kenobi convinces the little green Jedi to face his fears.

Inside the cave, Yoda is spooked by a group of bogwings bursting from their holes. In the aftermath, he laughs at the foolishness, only to hear the voice of Count Dooku, his former apprentice. Dooku laments to Yoda that the Master should have seen the signs he was falling to the Dark side. Yoda stumbles back and falls into a puddle, where he finds the corpse of Yaddle, who he realizes only then that Dooku had killed. Dooku, without hands, uses the Force to attack Yoda with his lightsaber, and Yoda defends himself with his cane.

As they duel, Yoda finds Keeve Trennis behind him. She too laments that Yoda failed her in his blindness. She pushes him into a pile of skulls, where fanged forms of Bail Organa, Padmé Amidala, and Mace Windu grab at him as Anakin Skywalker, engulfed in flames reiterates that Yoda had failed so many.

Darth Sidious appears in the vision wielding Force lightning in both hands. He tells Yoda that he is the Sith Master's greatest apprentice for his blindness, his role in the fall of the Jedi Order. Feeling hopeless in his failure, Yoda nearly succumbs until he sees the memory of Bree teaching him the taratti again. The boy reminds him that failure is the greatest teacher. This lesson gives Yoda the strength to fight back against the vision, and he exits the Cave of Darkness, his taratti in hand.

Yoda tells Kenobi that he will agree to help, and encourages the spirit to go help Luke Skywalker on Hoth. The ghost vanishes, and Yoda practices the instrument, eager to learn in spite of all the mistakes he will make.
