The Bitmus Cloud was a nebula[1] located in the Wazta sector of[3] the Outer Rim[1] and Western Reaches.[2] It was situated in grid square J-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid. The Bitmus Cloud lay between[1] the planet[6] Rex Strata and the nebula known as Nefitifi[1] on the Koda Spur hyperspace route.[4]
After the Great Hyperspace Rush[5] of 383 BBY,[7] the San Tekka clan of hyperspace prospectors mapped valuable new hyperspace routes through the Bitmus Cloud using the abilities of one its members—the child Mari San Tekka.[5] In 231 BBY,[8] as the scientist Chancey Yarrow explained San Tekka's abilities to the Nihil pirate Nan, she mentioned San Tekka's mapping of routes through the Bitmus Cloud.[5]
Behind the scenes
The Bitmus Cloud was first mentioned in the 2021 young-adult novel The High Republic: Out of the Shadows, written by Justina Ireland and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[5] Phase I.[9]
